I’m new so I’m not nearly as informed as other members here, but my guess is around 4-5 days. Your unit has to get some rest, 2-3 days per week.

I don’t think there’s a concrete answer to that. I’m sure it depends on your intensity and personal position. I like x2 per week, but then I’m not the norm around here. I’m sure you’d find plenty that train each and every day.

Shiver, having been at this for a few years (just guessing from your join date), have you always been a 2x per week guy, even as a newbie?

I PE everyday, but only do certain exercises certain days. Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday I hang, and Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday I wear a traction wrap all day and stretch and jelq in the shower. Ok, so I guess I take Sundays off. :) I answered 4 days because I think that’s as long as you should go doing one exercise. As long as you vary the exercises, then 6 or 7 days a week is fine.

No, I started with Big Al’s routine in early 2000 I think it was. I did his newbie routine and got some modest but very quick results. Of course those results soon slowed and I got disillusioned and quit. Maybe a year or so later I repeated the newbie routine and a similar thing happened, but with less additional results. That is when I thought I saw the makings of a pattern to all this and went off on my wildeness trail, learning about the how everything worked. To date, I still only PE a couple of months per year while trying out some theory, then I go off and do other things with my life. It has a habit of coming back though.

I’m not hungry enough for gains to keep bashing away at it, but if there’s gains to be had then I’ll do it. When I said x2 per week, what I really meant was once every 3 days (whatever day that lands on), which is based on the cycle of adaptation and repair the body goes through, and a bit off topic for this particular thread. I still think the newbie routine is the best for a newbie though, since its an experiential process where you learn a whole lot about your own body, which is a pre-requisite to everything else, and as a bonus you get gains without doing any damage.

In a conditioning sense I’m almost always a newbie, and whever I do anything it’s usually at newbie intensity and don’t ever intend to go higher as I believe it would be counter productive in the long term. I’m planning on starting again soon - probably in August, where I’ll keep going until gains dry up, then I’ll probably vanish until maybe christmas time and start again.

Yeah, apparently so am I. :D I should of said I try to PE on Sundays, but most of the time I’m too hung over, or there’s a football game on or sumthin…. basically it’s in my schedule, but I usually miss it.

I only PE on days that end with a Y.
