No Girth Gains In A Calorie Deficit?

12

Nobody here, not excluding myself, can say for sure either way to answer your question.

Some here have still gained while slowly losing weight. I’d be curious if anyone gained girth here whilst on a 500-1000 deficit. If so, that would be a good indicator that it depends on the person.

I personally saw a reduction in EQ, slight loss of size 1/16 girth, and no gains while on an 800 deficit over 2 months while clamping 1hr daily with weekends off. However many people go on 100-500 deficits which are a bit more comfortable and may not lead to my situation’s results.

There’s my 2 cents. Anecdotes are helpful. Saying yes or no in and of itself or trying to reason your way through it in terms of a cut healing…..is speculative at best.

Take the veterans experienced results in, and decide from there. There is no hard evidence either way. Anyone that says otherwise is off the beaten trail.

The only people who can honestly add muscle mass while in a calorie deficit naturally is if you have little muscle mass to begin with (malnourished/beginner) or if you have a gene mutation.

If anyone tells you different, it’s because they don’t know better or are on steroids.

This has been disproven, you can in fact gain muscle mass while in a calorie deficit with proper nutrition, diet and exercise. It is not easy, but can be done. Hormone levels play the biggest role here.

Greetings Makehergocrazy,

Janus Here,

Something which bodybuilders first really adopted and used to great effect is a practice known as "carb cutting" where they still maintain caloric intake, but they change up their ratio of carbs to fat intake. Basically, to effectively lose weight quickly, you may find much more success trying this approach instead. Here is a worthwhile start for you to explore this possibility.

When carbs are reduce to a critical level, losing weight is the least significant physiological change that takes place in the body and it is purely initial water shedding due to depletion of glycogen stores.

Your muscles begin to burn acetoacetate and betahydroxybutyrate. You start exhaling acetone and pissing acetoacetate.

The brain begins running predominately on these ketone bodies.

Weight loss stabilizes and the body shifts to adapt as efficiently as possible to a new metabolic state.

Iam familiar with carb loading, appreciate the info Janus. Also, losing weight to me is very easy, I have a harder time with a calorie surplus as oppose a calorie deficit. But thanks again.

Main thing is, no matter what you are doing, what you are eating and what kind of exercise regimen you do, you will never lose weight unless you are in a calorie deficit. It all comes down to numbers.

He never said anything about carb loading.

Lucky it’s so easy for you to drop, you must be ripped most of the time then.

I doubt caloric deficit would effect gains. However, I would think that protein intake would help with recovery. Protein helps with more than just recovering muscles .
