What’s a proxie?

Every computer has a unique IP address number.

A proxy is a “forced” IP that you use, to hide your “true” IP.

You all are still missing the point... The story was great and all but should have ass (and) some anal in it.- RWG

I remembered it, but it took me forever to find it. I tried searching by “fight club” but we were putting “fightclub” in our posts so it wouldn’t show up.

Nope, not at all. People that are on AOL or other dial-up accounts share banks of IPs, so over time they could have logged on from hundreds of different IPs. Makes no difference to the site you’re connecting to though. We track you by cookies which are stored on the computer you’re logging in from.

Locally yes, but not when you’re talking about accessing the internet. You could have a hundred computers networked together, all sharing a central gateway to the internet. No matter what computer you were on behind the network, all internet traffic would show as that one gateway IP address. So in 789’s case, if he accessed Thunder’s Place from 3 different PCs at the office, it would only show as one IP address. But if he accessed T’s Place from home, that’s when it would register a different IP.

Thanks stevie31 for the explanation. I’m still stupid though.

Thanks man, I hate working with things smarter than I am though. Last time, Pirate was out of town on splitter patrol, something was wrong with one of the computers and I thought I would go into “regedit” and fix it for him. Well the next day when I was buying the new computer …..

You get the point.

If I get pissed at my equipment I will threaten it with “format”> I dont think you are supposed to do that though.

d00d…, j00 ar3 n0t 31337?!?

The registry isn’t something to play around with. You can fuck your computer up beyond all repair in there.

Yeah, if you do NOT know what your doing in certain areas of a computer you can kiss that baby goodbye.
