So rest is key if I’m understanding this properly to let it heal and recover?

Once the tissue has undergo plastic deformation, it retains laxity no matter the rest. Going ahead straining it will cause rupture. We are speaking of in vitro experiment, what happens in vivo could be different. Actually Provenzano studied sub-failure damag in vivo also, there is a very interesting study of him in this very same thread.

Small curiosity: Provenzano is also the author of a study on penis extender.

Not sure if this has been linked before, and I have not had time to read it properly, but it looks promising so I am sticking it in here so I don’t lose it before giving it some study.

Marinera, do you believe a stretching session is only effective if your BPFSL measured immediately after the session is longer than your BPFSL before the session?

Not at all. Stretched with very low tension for an hour or so there is a good increase of BPFSL and this is a good thing; but when higher tension is applied there is an elastic reaction of TA and ligs; this is known as turtling. As long some fibers are stimulated to reach a longer state under stretching though, an adaptive reponse is stimulated, which repetead sistematically will lead to an increase in the BPFSL after weeks (or months or sometimes years, but the mechanism is the same).

Add to this the behavior of smooth muscle: when stretched vigorously for short spans of time, the smooth muscle reacts relaxating, so filling with blood; everything else being equal, more the blood in your penis shorter the BPFSL.

Hope this is not confusing. :)

All this is indicative of why an ADS is a beneficial tool for not only the prevention of or combating of turtling but also the consistent day in an day out gains from whatever your hanging routine is. Keeping the tissues stretched even lightly over long periods after a heavy hanging session becomes a necessity for continuous gains.

Very interesting ! Thanks Cap. It is pretty much the starting point of this thread, actually, the point I always tried to make :

‘When composite cadaveric tissue (skin, for example) is stretched, it lengthens. Even if the tissue is not taken to the point of rupture, it will not return to its original length because it has undergone “creep.” Creep is a gradual but permanent lengthening of the tissue due of slippage of short collagen fibers.

Since human cadaveric tissue responds this way to the stress applied, one might assume the same type of stress (stretch) needs to be applied to living tissue to create permanent change. But living tissue undergoes microscopic tearing of the fibers and cells, resulting in inflammation and small hemorrhages which leads to fibrosis that limits tissue mobility even more.

Living tissue held at its easy elastic limit, however, will activate the collagen fibers to turnover in a way that modifies the cross-linking of the fibers, allowing greater length. There is no creep or inflammation but rather a response that can be called “growth.” Growth is unique to living tissue.’

We want growth, not creeped, scarred tissue. Furthermore:
‘…the element of time and the consistency of low stretch creates the tissue response of growth.’

CLINICAL SUGGESTIONS

…Clinical experience reveals that the first one or two casts usually brings about significant improvement but there is diminishing response to continued cast changes over time. When the time between cast changes is increased, a significant improvement in both range of motion and quality of motion is noted, even with the most stubborn joints.

This is consistent with both what succesful long time pumpers and even extenders manufacturers advice. This is why ‘fatigue’ as called by clamp-style hangers (whatever it means, since it always remained a vague word) should actually be avoided: if the tissue is fatigued, it won’t grow at optimal rate. This is why it is unlikely to get extraordinary gains hanging (or pumping, or stretching) all the day (and night? Come on….), 7 days per week for months or years.

There is an issue here which is typically Ignored and that is living tissue WILL be affected by the bodies healing cycles of which when the 4th phase of the healing cycle is allowed to complete that last cycle is the return to the original DNA structure, which means a return to original dimensions. A continued use of light weight will prevent the return to original shape. When given enough time in the stretched condition the bodies healing will have expired which means the structure will remain in the stretched condition.

There’s still the possibility that hanging followed by an ads is awesome, and also hanging all day at light weight (at first) works wonders too.

To me this clearly means the use of ads and adc is a must. It’s also very possible this adds fuel to IPR protocol (e.g. hang, ads, rest) , although less force , more work (timewise) and less rest could be as/even more effective.

It seems the main flaw of extenders (apart from time and privacy needed), is past a certain point they can’t create enough traction to keep growth happening.

Also once the fibers are oriented in the best way to lengthen the penis (which could be why many gain 1 inch or so from 6 months of extending), we’re back to square one.

However it does suggest extenders are great to get started.

OK where do I get one? :)

Who will build a girth extender, one that grabs the very sides of the ccs and pull them apart?

I must agree with marina here, I used my jes extender (overpriced) for only 4 hours a day, 5 days on and two off. I went from 7.75” to 8.5” in 6 months.

I found gains to be increased the more 100% erections I got in the day, during which I may clamp with my hands for 1 or two min each hand. Perhaps a little reminder to the tissue can be enough.

I think where most people fail is they do not increase the length of the device in a regular systematic fashion (this was explained in the Manuel which I have since lost :-( ), people think remaining at one size for many weeks is enough. After my experience with the extender I can think of a much more efficient comfortable system for an extender as long as privacy is not an issue, but that is another topic

Although I am sure it has been said around here before, but I have found after increasing my girth I am finding length to be much more difficult to increase, I assume more load is needed to stretch the tissue for length.

I have been a member here before about 7-8 years ago (username Iwantlonger), mostly lurking made some gains, lost my email to hakers and forgot my password for TP but eventually came back made a lot more gains and posted a bit then took a 1-2 year break…. hopefully here to stay this time and give back to the community in some way :)

Does this mean the contractile proteins released after inflammation which pull wounds together are missing ? If so ADS use might not help ?

It means that static stretching / ADS works.

It doesn’t mean that hanging followed by ads, or, imo, that hanging light weights for 3 hours a day isn’t even better.
If we increase the elastic limit of the tissues thanks to hanging ( increase your BPFSL), then using an ads with the adequate amount of force later on should be ideal .

Not sure what contractile proteins are, but in any case my answer is above .

That is also consistent with the Provenzano’ study I referred often, posted in this very same thread, in which was found that cellular proliferation begins way before the elastic limit is reached and without any need of inflammation (which is actually counterproductive).
