Is warming down the missing link?

Hey guys. Friday, I was doing my jelqing like I usually do after I warm up, but then, before I decided to pack everything up and finish, I decided to do another warm up (or warm down) for 10 minutes. Now my method of warming up is with warm water in a water bottle, but any warm up method should do just fine. For the rest of that day (Friday) and today, my flaccid hang has been more impressive than ANY OTHER DAY I’ve jelqed the same exact way. Possible correlation between warming down and maximizing gains? Discuss.

That’s what I did back when I was Jelqing for about a year. I noticed the same thing when I didn’t warm down. Also I noticed I did NOT retain the “spots” as long. Nice flaccid hang that lasted longer. I got into hanging back in November and have just started back with Jelqing too. I still do the warm down after a secession.

What is the actual reason for warming down? I know the warm up makes stretches and stuff more effective, but I don’t see why a warm down is needed.

Did it eventually project to more gains though SNM? I don’t have spots ever because I’m black so I guess I can’t confirm that one. BUt it’s nice to know that you experience a fuller flaccid hang longer as well…

Honestly, I can’t tell you. What I can tell you is the effects I’ve seen after doing so and the correlation I drew between the warm down and a fat long flaccid hang.

My personal experience with heat makes me think that heat is beneficial before, during and after my sessions.
I’ve noticed that when I started using heat (rice sock) while using the PM, my penis stayed much more elastic and would continue to stretch throughout the session. When I just did a warmup, I would just be able to stretch a little and max out. Then the PM would become uncomfortable. If I re-applied heat, it would loosen up again and I would get more stretch. So I thought, why not keep the heat on it during the whole session? (not too much heat, just enough to keep things warm down there)

I also noticed that by using the heat as a warm down to gradually let everything get to normal temperature, I would be more responsive during the next session. I have also noticed a significant decrease in the number of down days when doing a warm down. (This may also be contributed to “conditioning” of the penis as well)

When I work out, if I don’t do a warm down, my muscles have more of a tendency to cramp up and be sore the next workout. If I do a sufficient warm down at the end of my workout, I don’t have these problems. Not being an expert in this field, I don’t know if the physiology is the same, but the results seem the same for me.

I think you guys are onto something.. I’ve noticed progress from warming up with a rice sock, and then warming down using hot water and a shower massage.

I just had a crazy idea after reading this. Walmart sells “hand warmers” that are just some powder in a bag that you shake up to get a chemical reaction that creates heat. You are supposed to put the in your mittens, pockets, or whatever in cold weather. Why not drop one or two in your pants after a session? That could be a great warm-down.

I sometimes PE when I shower… When I shower.

Mbuc did a great job on checking elongation when hanging with or without heat, intially and during the hanging and also checked cooling down (with ice pack!) to record contraction when cooling down. All in the name of science.

Also, I quote my own post in that thread about:

there are reusable handwarmers as well (and all other shapes, for shoes and backs too) - you’ll find them on the net or at REI. Recharge them by boiling them and snap a little bimetal button inside the bag a the saline solution crystalizes, releasing heat for 30-60 minutes. They’re pretty cheap too.

I sometimes use them for warming up - shove it down the front of my pants before I start.

I can’t say if it had anything to do with gains but I think it helps blood flow which might help in healing. It might have something to do with moving the compacted blood around after a secession. I think the heat increases blood flow and that’s why you see a fatter unit longer after a secession.

I just tried a little experiment, which doesn’t really bring much to the table, but does at least eliminate one variable. When you mentioned lubrication I thought of synovial fluid in joints. A large proportion of this is Hyaluronic acid (along with other sulphated GAGs), which is very slippery when added to water. I happen to have a litre of this stuff so I placed some on my IR pad for 10 mins.

The outcome? there was no change in viscosity. Not very enlightening I know. The idea that lubrication would thicken up under heated conditions is still an interesting one though.

I am really trying to lengthen the shaft as I slowly (10 sec) pull down between by legs. Do this 5 min, hot mug again, then 5 more minutes of downward flacid jelq-stretches.

Hot mug again. Do 5 minutes of full erection 2-handed jelq-squeezes. Encircle and clamp the base with one hand. With the other hand grab and squeeze the upper mid shaft (fattest part for me). I slowly jelq down to that fattest part then give the shaft a series of hard squeezes that last about 5 sec. each. Just keep repeating this. Do these 5 minutes, hot mug again and do 5 minutes more of the full erection 2-handed jelq-squeezes.

Next I pull my unit out to maximum length and apply 4 or 5 ice cubes, one at a time along the penile shaft. Allow them to melt on the shaft. This is to “harden” it at maximum length. Turn the sol phase back into a gel so shaft remains in elongated state for longer time. Then I sometimes wear a constriction ring for an hour to keep unit at this greater length.”

I have no idea if MagnumXL’s claim of solidifying the gel is correct. Anybody able to verify that?

It has probably been concluded before, but if MagnumXL is right about the solidifying of gel (at any rate, he got great gains!) then we should be warming up, applying stress to stretch out and then apply cold to cool down in a stretched state.

Mbuc’s hanging with cold showed that the penis elongated nicely (less strain) and then when he cooled down the penis contracted to a shorter state - with the weight attached.

Shiver, do you have a static stretcher? I don’t but if anybody does, how about trying warming up, stretching out while warm and subsequently cooling down in the elongated state - does the flaccid post stretch length stay longer than if you warm up, stretch out while warm and take of stretcher while keeping warm for a while?

It brings fresh new blood to the penis, more so than normal, allowing the penis to begin healing in an engorged state. I not only do it before, during, and after workouts, I also do it whenever convenient. If I’m watching TV, there is a heat lamp on my dick.
