Visually 1/4” or a 1/2” length doesn’t make a lot of difference until you start adding them up cumulatively, but I find when I look at girth a 1/4” makes a visual difference to me, and 1/2” is very noticeable.

No. I’d say 1.5” is the minimum difference in length for a major visual impact. An extra inch of girth (or even half-inch) looks very different, though.
I think even thought 6 inches and 7 inches don’t look like impressive difference, that 7 and 8 inches do. Even though it has same intervals.
When you look at other guys, you can’t see how big they are bone pressed. So 2 guys could both be 6 inches NBP but one of them could be 7 BP and the other 6.25 BP. The guy who is 7 might feel better about himself, but if they were both with the same woman, that woman would say they are the same size, right?
