The longer and thicker the penis the better the sperm can be deposited closer to the cervix and the better the penis can displace competitive sperm. Our penis head shape allows us to displace sperm. This is because, assuming that penis size is genetically controlled, If a woman has sex with a man with a big unit and gets impregnated by him, then, chances are, she will have a son who is also well endowed.
Sperm competition fascinates me because it can only take place in the absence of typical tribal and advanced civilization “monogamy” traditions. It implies some previous era in which “caveman” sex was more like an orgy or gang bang.
It seems to me that one of the functions of “structure” around mating in tribes and advanced civilizations is to limit competition more to “provider and social status functions”, eliminating more “primitive” forms of competition including sperm and dick-size… Our more “liberal” sexual attitudes of recent decades could change all this back toward more primitive types of competition including dick size.
The much abused (and praised) “traditional” family values which are still carried to extremes in the more extreme Islamic countries all seem aimed at limiting male competition around sex (creating a delusional “equality” between men), a reaction to the long-lost era of wide-open caveman sex. For instance, in Taliban Afghanistan, probably NO WOMAN could exercise any preference regarding “dick-size” and what “dick size genes” she would prefer to pass on to a son. As women become more and more aware of “dick-size” status issues in the “porn-soaked” West, they may become more and more “picky”.
