Having two accounts here is not good. When did you become Jumbodog?

I would be surprised if any ADS device can produce the same force as a hanger and though progression of intensity may be possible to some extent you are probably looking at the same progression a hanger would make early on.

Sure, though a hanger has some limitations such as only partial length subjected to stretch, limited time under tension, and negative effects from extreme compression levels. I see the hanger as something for the senior part of a PE career, though many people will be tempted to get one too early because it has proven results. Even Bib didn’t start with a Bib device :)

My own definition of an ADS is something that can be fitted in the morning and forgotten about for several hours at a time, and probably pulls no more than 4lb max.

That doesn’t really happen at least with a bib hanger or an AFB the majority of the weight appears to be transferred to the lower edge of the hanger, so in reality you are probably stretching from a point just behind the glans.

Very true. It’s very much a brute force method and I think people ramping up weight too quickly are probably also creating scar tissue easily.

Yeah, I’ve never managed to attach a hanger in such a manner that the compression is as low as with my hand.

I’m with you on that, I don’t think people should go to hangers until they’ve exhausted manual methods. For some people manual methids just don’t work though (whether that’s toughness of tissue or lack of technique is another question I guess).

I’ve been PE’ing for about 4 months. I have lots of time alone, and I don’t want to gain any more girth. Why shouldn’t I hang? Why isn’t this the most efficient means for accomplishing my goals?

No offense to you guys, but I really don’t want PE to become a lifetime career. By the time I become a “senior,” I hope meeting my PE goals will be a pleasant and distant memory.

It may well be for you, but I would say you are atypical. I mean, over 500 posts and you’re only 4 months in! :D
Seriously though, the hanger is like getting a Fireblade as a bike to learn on. If you’re smart enough to be patient then I don’t see an issue. I’ll bet 99% of everyone here has been a little over zealous at least once though, and even if you don’t do any damage to functionality, nobody here knows whether it will be a progress blocker or not. All we really know is that newbies almost always rapidly gain, and vets simply tend to eventually. So the short cut may end up being the long way around.
