Here's My Story - Could Use a Little Advice

***SORRY IF THIS IS LONG***

My name’s Ryan, I’m 21.

The problem, in short, is that I’ve been suffering from a lower libido, poor morning wood, and MAYBE a slight decrease in overall size the past 8-9 months..

It all seemed to come out of nowhere. I was putting up with alot stress this past summer(being systematically alienated from my home b/c I dropped out of school; and having to work with a pain-in-the-ass co-worker). But what’s strange as hell is that I had probably experienced the BIGGEST erection EVER around the time, having experimented with “Edging” - I topped out at 8 1/4”.

I was drinking alot of water, working full time, taking a daily vit., working out, and then all of a sudden at work one day I remember my softy feeling a bit.stiff; not erect, just stiff. I don’t remember doing anything to cause it.

And ever since then it’s just seemed to have a snowball effect. The stiffness really isn’t there anymore, but the libido and morning wood problems still there FOR SURE.

Just for background info - yes I’ve done PE before (on and off during the 1st two years of college), and tried penis pills like Extagen, ProSolution, and L-Arginine. I don’t think this is a side-effect of any of those things. I’d hope not.

And yes - I went to a urologist, but he didn’t think it was really a problem. I’d like to get a 2nd opinion, but I have a feeling he might look at me like I’m an idiot (hence this post).

I’ve met 1 or 2 posters here with the same symptons, but mine have lingered, and it’s a serious concern specially when you’re trying to GAIN.

What makes it worse even is that I’ve been taking an antidepressant the past month, and that can take a hit on your libido and ability to cum.

QUESTION: Are there any pills (like Tongkat or Red Gingseng) or transdermals that are proven helpers with libido/erections?

And any other advice is def. Welcome guys.

Thanks.

~ Ry

It could be a number of things.

Are you experiencing hair loss as well?

Take a break for a while. No masturbation even.

Take lots of fruits to help your burnt out adrenal glands.

I suffer from depression as well, I don’t believe that the prescriptions work. Try St. John’s wort. It works better than Prozac and is really cheap (bottle is about $10-20)

How is your sleep?

Any questions?

I was gonna say, RootCap's hot. - kitten

Your story does not make it clear how onset related to anti depressants. If it happened anytime after starting to take these, especially in the two weeks following, then I would say you have your answer as to why. Even if it started before I would suggest that your illness and cure probably have the same side effect- wimpy penis. Dysthymia and milder cases of depression some times cause hyper-sexuality but worse cases are more often associated with low libido and ED. The solution is simple get off them. Don’t let anyone tell you that “depression is a chemical imbalance” like it means it’s totally a medical problem that is best treated with pills. All thought is chemical electrical so in a sense all thought is a chemical imbalance. The best anti depressant known to man is a 20 minuet walk in the sunshine. The reason pills are popular is not only because they are easier than comparably effective things like exercise but because by definition you can not get a clinically depressed patient to do the behaviors that would really help them. Pills are not the most effective treatment. They do tend to stack with things like being more social and exercise, so if these aren’t enough you can resort to pills. I suggest you start going for walks, it is most effective when you maintain a steady rate for 20 minuets and the sun is shining. However, on cloudy days its still worth going. Then try to ween yourself off the anti depressants, reducing the dosage until you begin to notice problems. You may find you don’t need the pills, you may find that a lower dose allows for good erections. If you find you have to stay on the pills then perhaps you can ask your doctor to try a different anti depressant.

That sounds horrible. Lets analyse the factors shall we:

Factor 1:
It all seemed to come out of nowhere. I was putting up with alot stress this past summer(being systematically alienated from my home b/c I dropped out of school; and having to work with a pain-in-the-ass co-worker).
Factor 2:
But what’s strange as hell is that I had probably experienced the BIGGEST erection EVER around the time, having experimented with “Edging” - I topped out at 8 1/4”.

Up to here it sounds like you are suffering from a over trained, used and bruised penis along with stress. Laying of your dick for a few months, no PE, no masturbation, no sex, just colling it, will give your unit healing time.

Get off the meds, they don’t work good for you, so lay off them, maybe get some others and see what effect they have.

I know how bad it sucks to have ED at your age, and I went threw the whole urologist advice, which they didn’t really have. My guess is that a two month break from PE and sexual activities, along with dropping those meds, will do you a world of good.

Wishing and hoping for the best - yup your doing it wrong.

Thanks guys.

I forgot to add that I actually tried weening myself off masturbation for a whole week, but it’s hard for me, I love getting hard.

I’m gonna try the St. John’s Wart. I did have my RX refilled but I’ll try reducing it and then get off it. I was also prescribed Welbutrin, which can actually IMPROVE dick function, but I’ve heard it can aggravate anxiety..

I’m starting a new job, hopefully that’ll help keep my damn mind off jerking the gerkin.

Any other supplements that could directly help gain back my good ol’ unit?

~ Ry

St. John’s wort

Lots of sunshine, or vit D supplement.

Vit K can help

Loose some weight, or weight train.

Pycnogenol

Yomhibe(ine)

B complex

A general Multi Vitamin.

But for now, stay off of all that, use some St. John’s wort for your anxiety and depression, and get some sun.

Take at least 2 weeks off of jerking off. It takes meds around 2 weeks to really start showing anything, although some signs are apparent withing a few minutes.

Try to last a month without jerking off. Then start bringing it back. Ejaculate once a week, but no more to clean the pipes. Hopefully that will help.

I am suffering from the same and will do the same, so keep me posted. I’ve just over trained as well, so I’m going to concentrate more on the Gym for the rest of the month than my cock.

I know it may suck, I’ve been there too, but it would be a big mistake not to give the antidepressant at least another four to eight weeks to kick in and reach full effectiveness, and see how it works for you. Don’t stop taking medication until you’ve consulted with your doctor, and come up with a plan for weaning yourself off of it.

There are times that medication is necessary, and there may not be any good way to determine that except to give it a full trial. I’m concerned that some of the “tough it out”, “do it yourself” sort of approaches to mental health may actually be part of an attitude that contributes to male depression (see Terrence Real’s books).

Starting in with exercise or vitamins are good suggestions, but clear any supplements or herbs with your doctor. Substances like St. John’s wort, in particular, have strong chemicals in them that can interact with medications or have other side effects.

PE is all about patience and the long haul, anyway.

Good Luck,

FF

I’ve heard not so good things about Yohimbe..

My mom said St. John’s Wart didn’t work for her.

That urologist prescribed some Vit. D I think (or K).

Never heard of Pycnogenol. Wth is that exactly?

Any other suggestions would be nice.

OK :smack:

Wishing and hoping for the best - yup your doing it wrong.

Lol!

Ironically, the urologist I saw told me the only thing that would make me stop jerking so much was antidepressants..

(He was being sarcastic)

OK stress is a factor here two substances come to mind to remedy the problem.

Gensing makes for great wood however you may wait as long as a month to see results. Gensing is an adaptogen that helps you deal with stress.Caution it does raise your blood pressure so if you have high blood pressure stay clear of any type of gensing.

Ginko biloba will block the lack of sex drive and lack of wood in about 14 days after taking it. Ginko is the better choice of the two, It works faster than gensing and it increases nitric oxide the chemical that is responsible for erections, In increases circulation to the tiniest of blood vessels like the tiny blood vessels in your penis.Ginko does not raise blood pressure if that is an issue.

Take a vitamin “B” complex formula for stress.

These three items are very inexpensive but get the standardized only they work better. (Vitamins are not standardised)

Speak softly carry a big dick, I'm mean stick!

It’s ginseng not gensing.

Do we just not know where the spell-check button is?

Anyway.

I agree with RootCap, the anti-depressants are the most likely culprit. Although over-training could also be your problem. Or a combination.

As far as the recommendations to get off them… I’m assuming they were prescribed for a reason? St. John’s Wort works for some and others not; it’s fairly mild so for serious problems it will not really be effective.

When you were working out, drinking water, taking vitamins, etc., you seem to feel you were doing better overall. Working out is a terrific way to fight depression naturally, by the way. And is always of help in this regard even if the drugs are needed.

The in’s and out’s of psycho-pharmacology are very tricky. It’s true that Prozac type cures are over prescribed and often prescribed for trauma induced depression instead of what they were truly designed for, which is chronic depression. To really know if they are right for you means getting a very good shrink. It wouldn’t hurt to educate yourself in this area as well; the more you know the better the feedback you can give your shrink.

FYI: L-Arginine is not really a ‘penis pill’, it’s an amino acid that has the effect of being a vaso-dilator. This is useful for erections, but it’s also not bad for bodybuilding, which in turn is great to fight depression.

I think the overall picture of you working out, eating well, getting proper sleep, drinking water and caring for yourself is base-line. Good supplementation will help as well: a multi, B vitamins, Omega 3 fish oil (EPA & DHA), protein supplements (assuming you work out) can all be helpful.

As to ginkgo, ginseng, yohimbe and the like. These are things that you need to read up on. Ginkgo is probably the most benign in terms of side-effects. Yohimbe in high dosages can be dangerous, but most of the products that contain this are in doses that are ubiquitously tolerated; manufacturers don’t want law suits. Same goes for ginseng, although those side effects are less severe to begin with.

But I think they are unnecessary at your age, libido problem or no. And given that you are dealing with prescription meds you are probably better off going the fitness/vitamin route until you can get to the bottom of your depression and medication issues. Mixing those herbals with prescriptions is an iffy proposition as your brain chemistry is all over place.

And abstinence for a brief period allows your unit to recover from over-training.

Hope this helps.

You should definitely talk to your doctor about getting off the meds instead of doing it your self.

St.John’s wort has been shown to surpass Prozac in many cases. However, this could also be read as:
St.John’s wort is mild, Prozac mild as well.

The meds definitely have an effect and the side effects of man-made drugs are numerous.

Arginine will help in the right dosage. Too much and you can suffer from ED.

Be careful about testosterone boosters. As you boost your testosterone, you will also be boosting your estrogen. You can always use anti-estrogens though.

Primarily, do all you can to kick the depression. Don’t be in a contest of how many bottles of pills you can put on your shelf. Your toilet will be very healthy, your wallet will not.

We’re here for you.

PM me any time.

Yea, I’ve tried all sorts of shit in the past - Extagen, Prosolution, Arginine, Lysine, Protein, etc.

Never noticed any improvements; and I’d really hope taking those wouldn’t have longterm side-effects.

Are vasilators any good if rubbed directly on? Maxoderm had a commercial..

Anyway, it’s kinda hard to kick depression when it’s from circumstances slightly out of your control, like being kicked out of your home and living in a small room by yourself.

And I don’t have insurance or money to see a therapist right now so that kinda sucks too..

I’ve read about Korean Ginseng being good. I’ll look into Ginko though.

And the “problem” existed way before I took the meds. The meds only hurt your libido even more.
