Kegels if done correctly CAN help you retain your ejaculate, sort of like squeezing the urethra at the base of your dick, and “semen retention” is part of the drill in going for “multiple orgasms,” or “extended orgasm,” at least according to some of the proponents. They are probably correct, although I think the best way to maximize enjoyment from sex is to prolong the encounter, but only if the entire encounter is pleasant and continuously building toward an “ecstasy.” In my experience Kegels are a good routine and help a guy get better acquainted with his junk, and develop a pleasant control over it’s function. If you’re going for a quick wank, and want to get off quick (not a good practice, in the long run), tensing at orgasm DOES push you over the brink, as we’ve all experienced, and you shoot your load. On the other hand, learning to really kick back and just “sink into” the good feeling as you approach orgasm, maybe change your thrusts to an easy glide, or even a rapid “rabbit punch,” but NOT consciously “pushing” toward anything in particular, and DEFINITELY NOT going for the gold, often leads you to a place that makes you think you’ve died and gone to heaven, maybe blended with your partner into one soul, or even “become one with the universe.” This is “riding the crest,” or “riding the edge.” I believe it is the goal of sex. Not much in life is better.
