I’m a little mystified by how stretching seems to work so much better than hanging for a lot of people. I would think that hanging, since you can do other things at the same time, would promote longer sessions, more weight, etc if one wanted (or could do same duration and force as stretching as wanted), and so it would at least be just as good as stretching. Can anyone tell me reasons why this is not the case?
Perhaps, am just guessing here, sometime when we hang, we don’t really know if we have done overweight or too long, and as we all know, sometime do more means less growth (even no growth). While with our hands, we have more control on the stretch. Does it make sense?
I hang too anyway, and it does give me a nice gain.

I’ve been PEing for 3 months doing nothing but manual stretches and about 4-6 hrs four days a week using a home made ADS. Did this based on vets advice to go long then wide. So far I’ve increased 7/8” (from 6 to 6 7/8) in newbie gains. Unfortunately I’ve lost 1/4” in girth for some strange reason (5.5 to 5.25). If girth continues to decrease, plan to mix in some girth stuff.
Won’t doing manual stretches alone reduce your growth?
