I have been doing quite a bit of reading on jelqing. I completely forgot about the jelqing rule of thumb: “Jelq at low erection levels for length, and high erection levels for girth.”

I wonder if this really has any truth to it.
The rule of thumb never helped me. I almost always jelqed at high erection levels, and gained nothing but length from jelqing.

I cannot imagine how jelqing at lower erections would help for length, more than girth.

Furthermore, with our current explanation, I cannot see how jelqing works for length at all. Thunders defines jelqing as “an exercise designed to increase the size of the penis by both forcing expansion of the Corpora Cavernosa and by weakening their walls, causing micro-tears.”

This definition seems to focus on how jelqing increases penis girth. Most length gains, come from stretching the structures of the penis.

MAYBE, jelqing the penis stretches the internal structures.

I think jelqing at a low erection level would help increase length because while your penis is not fully hard, it is still pretty easy to stretch it. So while jelqing at a low erection level your penis is still being stretched while more blood is flowing through.

That might be a reason why jelqing at low erection levels helps length gains.

You have built-in capacity, this is why PE works. We want to utilize all the “built-in” capacity that the Lord gave us. At low erection levels or low engorgement we can expand the tissue by jelqing or forcing blood to balloon the penis beyond our normal erection levels. If you cannot balloon the penis to a new size, your built-in capacity is low and therefore your success at gaining size will be minimal. The stress applied by jelqing will be more effective at lower erection levels i.e. 50% or less, at lower levels greater expansion can be achieved. I am talking engorgement, the erection’s position is of no consequence.

Girth gains should come very quickly, this is why we are all addicted. In two weeks you should have a noticeably bigger erection (girth wise), when this happens most of us are blown away and then we squeeze even harder until an injury appears. Length gains will benefit from jelqing because the arterioles and CC are able to hold more blood and hence additional force is generated to begin periscoping out your inner penis (more built-in capacity). Inorder to really kick-start the process of lengthing though, you will have to begin a stretching or hanging routine. Suspensory structures require weakening to take advantage of exposing your inner penis.

If your having difficulty getting girth gains, you should work with lower engorgement levels (20%). In the limp condition you can better expand tissue and improve volume. In doing these exercises you should do Uli’s and concentrate on the maximal expansion of the corona. You do not need to worry about the shaft so much, it will come along for the ride. The penis is a relatively small structure, if you squeeze it, it will come. Hang long, hang tough.

Jelqing at a low level of erection never increased my Erect Length!

I think for newbies jelqing stretches the ligaments to some degree from the outward tugging action (though not as well as dedicated stretching or hanging) and also releases some constricting points in the fascia covering the penis.

Stretching the ligs may or may not express more existing length. However, loosening any constricting elements along the shaft itself will result in it becoming longer and/or thicker.

Basic PE techniques appear to accomplish basically the same thing on the penis as rolfing, myofascial release, trigger point therapy, or whatever you want to call similar techniques used on other areas of the body.

Lengthening the ligs may or may not do much to increase one’s erect length. It depends on how much the ligs are interfering. Obviously, if the ligs are restraining expression of the shaft length, stretching them will help. If they aren’t, making them longer won’t do anything. I suspect some of the rapid newbie BPEL gains reported are from guys who had tight ligs tying up a decent percentage of their size. I’m pretty sure my early progress came primarily from stretching ligs. If the shaft has an unrestricted straight shot out from the pelvis stretching ligs won’t provide additional length.

I suspect most newbies have multitudinous extremely small “tight spots” within their tunicas that are relatively easily released by the massage action of jelqing (or similar expansive PE techniques). How much of this release translates into the shaft gaining girth or length probably depends on the orientation of the constricting bonds, which is probably luck of the draw.

Some guys gain length much easier than girth. Others gain girth easily but have a hard time with length. A few gain both well. A few can’t gain much of either despite heroic efforts. The general categories are:

  • Relatively easy length gainer
  • Relatively easy girth gainer
  • Gain both well
  • Hell of a time gaining anything

IMO, the “percentage” of erection level you jelq at doesn’t make much difference in which dimension you’ll gain. Guys are generally either more prone to gain either girth or length in the shaft itself. The state you jelq in shouldn’t affect that tendency much if at all.

I’m a stubborn girth gainer and have accidentally gained only length from what was supposed to be a pure girth routine. Sad, but true.

I think the whole jelq more erect (engorged or erect? - they never say) for girth or less erect for length is old bullshit propogated throughout the years based on some paysite huckster’s supposition way back. I don’t buy it.

I think jelqing at lower errection is good for cementing errection length. It’s just my thought.

This is what I was thinking. From my research, everyone seems to have a general consensus that length gains come from "stretching," while girth gains come from "expanding." The more I think about it, the more I believe we are "stretching" are penis to some degree when we jelq.

Is that a 20 percent erection level? From every PE site to the moon and back, including here, claims low erection level jelqing promotes length; while high erection level jelqing promotes girth.

My main question is: is there any truth behind the idea that low erection level jelqing promotes length; while high erection level jelqing promotes girth?

This was not the case for me. And you seem to go against the ‘normal’ advice. I am curious, are you speaking from personal experience? Or from what you read?

Very thoughtful, mature, and informative post.

This is exactly what I was going for. I do not see how jelqing at lower levels promotes length, anymore than jelqing at higher levels does. What really matters is:
a) physiology - along the lines with your theory of “4 types of people”
b) time
c) intensity
d) The technique while jelqing - It is my theory that jelqing on the sides of the penis promote length, while jelqing on the top and bottom promote girth.

I have to run, but everyone had great posts. I am hoping with a little more thought, and help, I can completely approve or disapprove of this “jelqing at higher erection levels for girth theory.”

Did you keep a log? Or was it just a thing you studied and noticed everytime you PEed?
Maybe it is different for different people.

What about others… What have the rest of you experienced?
