So many new guys latch onto the misconception that the crazy, advanced, exercises are to be strived for. It isn’t like leveling up in DnD or WoW where you suddenly have access to new tricks that put all of your previous stuff to shame. It is the opposite in fact. Some guys, the lucky guys, are able to stick with the n00b routine their entire PE career.

But for many, every time that they level up PE stops working for them! They are then forced to experiment with methods that are less and less time effective, less and less safe, etc.. These are the so called “advanced techniques”; guys trying anything once the newbie routines stop giving results.

Anyway…. I’m impressed with what some of the veterans do, but I’ve never even felt slightly inclined to do something I’m not conditioned for. As iamaru said, some people keep plateauing for years, and their workouts get crazier & crazier. It was always clear to me, the people doing this type of thing were doing it because it was necessary for them to do these things to make gains.

I’ve always been a less is more type person. I hope to maximize gains with less effort—and less risk.

I think the newbie forum is the best place for this thread. I remember when I first started and I wanted to gain fast, I wanted it to happen overnight. It doesn’t happen that way and newbies need to know that. We tend to forget where we came from and say use the search button.

I’m a less is more guy too! But I do even less than you with good results. Yeah I guess we are lucky, but the chance of us overdoing it is so much higher. More risk involved with PE IMO.

caboose2409: Actually, you have really amazing results based on your routine. I mean—the numbers don’t look intense. You must be using really good technique. So yeah, I’ll be the bigger man and admit you are more of a “less-is-more” guy than me!

I guess I need to find your routine Caboose. I thought I read you do clamping.
