Where do dick genes come from?

Everything is based on genes, but there are tens of thousands of steps that occur between the genes and the ‘finished’ adult body. Nose size, dick size, muscularity, height, weight, metabolism, et cetera are all regulated at many stages. You have genes that tell how to build a dick, but the actual building of the dick is carried out by proteins and is affected by hormones, chemicals, availability of building material, you name it.

Though I had eating, drug, and mental problems mostly during my youth, so this is why I think I never grew. I mustve had NO testosterone in my system until I started eating and working out at 18.

Puberty is a funny thing, and it is regulated by more than just testosterone. You certainly were outside of the normal range for the onset of puberty, and certainly nutritional status or drugs could have played a role in that.

No.

I assume that you are referring to this question:

And that you are actually asking about labia, not vaginas.

From my personal observations, I would say that it has much more to do with genes and much less to do with ‘wear and tear’. I have been with several women who had given birth vaginally to children, and their labia were nice and compact. I have also been with women, both moms and not, who had pronounced labia. I doubt that the intromission of our relatively small penises into a woman’s vagina has any great, long-term effect on her labia.

I found this very amusing.

The real question is: why does this matter? You have what you have and can’t change the way it happened. Your kids will get what they will and you can’t influence it without asking potential mates about their fathers, brothers, uncles and grandfathers which might be somewhat awkward.

So why even ask?

Morbid fascination, perhaps.

Actually, I figured this was one of those things with a somewhat simple answer, but one that just never made it all over the net yet. Yeah, I suppose it’s more of a curiosity than anything, although part of me wants to know who/what to point some fingers at hehe. For instance, they just did studies that revealed that your mother’s diet during pregnancy may determine whether you’ll be a male or female (I think they said cereal and milk makes males?). I wonder if that goes even a step further: if mom ate her spinach while you were in the womb would you have grown up to have a big popeye cock?

It’s partially why I said “all else equal” in the original question, because I figured there are other nurturing factors that contribute. But if no one really knows whether the trait is sex-linked or anything, then that’s cool.

Oh, come now, why would you even bother posting something so absurd?

How do you know popeye had a big cock, big biceps yes but penis? I’ve not seen that episode. Can you direct me to it please, cheers.

Is it in the one ‘Popeye strokes it with olive oil’ ?

I read the same thing priapologist. Shot the theory of XX or XY now doesn’t it. I have all boys, am allergic to milk so the theory doesn’t hold water for me. But I read the same thing.

You both would benefit from reading the source documents, not the popular media soundbites.

Facultative adjustment of sex ratios by mothers occurs in some animals, and has been linked to resource availability. In mammals, the search for consistent patterns is complicated by variations in mating systems, social hierarchies and litter sizes. Humans have low fecundity, high maternal investment and a potentially high differential between the numbers of offspring produced by sons and daughters: these conditions should favour the evolution of facultative sex ratio variation. Yet little is known of natural mechanisms of sex allocation in humans. Here, using data from 740 British women who were unaware of their foetus’s gender, we show that foetal sex is associated with maternal diet at conception. Fifty six per cent of women in the highest third of preconceptional energy intake bore boys, compared with 45% in the lowest third. Intakes during pregnancy were not associated with sex, suggesting that the foetus does not manipulate maternal diet. Our results support hypotheses predicting investment in costly male offspring when resources are plentiful. Dietary changes may therefore explain the falling proportion of male births in industrialized countries. The results are relevant to the current debate about the artificial selection of offspring sex in fertility treatment and commercial ‘gender clinics’.

Translation: women who ate more food/had better nutrition prior to pregnancy has a modestly higher chance of having a boy. Eating milk and cereal does not make boys, and the role of XX and XY genes in gender determination is quite secure.

 at both of these…

There’s a study somewhere about women’s partner selection (sorry, can’t find a source) - Basically a sample of women were given a selection of men with varying characteristics (penis size being one of them), and asked to choose which of them they’d most likely have a one night stand with, and which they’d pick for a fathering roll.
Big surprise, totally different men were chosen.

Additionally, as I think priapologist already said, genes aren’t as simple as “a dick gene”. I’m only speculating here but I’d say a large penis would (on average)mean higher testosterone levels during development. I wouldn’t like to say if testosterone levels remain higher throughout life (I have no idea), however, high levels throughout development would undoubtedly have an impact on neuronal and personality development.

Personality is by far the largest deciding factor in mate selection. Regardless of the impact that developmental testosterone levels may or may not have, the very presence of this site proves that the size of your cock does impact your ego, personality and behaviour.

I’d be inclined to say the fact that male penis size vary so much is because different women want different things in a guys personality, and by proxy there trousers :-p

You know how whenever he eats spinach they zoom in on his arms and they look like anvils? Yeah, well there’s this one episode where they actually zoom in on his pants and out pops this anaconda with a medieval helment… nevermind this is ridiculous.
