We're we are contraction

The forums are changing any instance of “we’re” to “we’re”. Can we fix this.. ?

It’s changing <w e r e> to <w e ’ r e>!

We were looking at this thread to see if this actually did this.

They were not sure if it actually contracted.

Do you have auto-spell check on or something?

I remember hearing that it’s a function that’s automatically enabled on new members until a certain amount of posts, and after awhile it turns off I believe. I know it’s been mentioned before.

This ought to be fixed! I see that it isn’t happening for some of you, but it is happening for me. I realize that automatically altering what someone says may be for the better, if it’s making them more intelligible. But this is doing the opposite. Surely it’s something that can be fixed. Everyone knows that <w e r e> is not necessarily a contraction of <we are>. In fact, <w e r e> is a lot more common than <w e ’ r e>, so this is messing more stuff up than it’s fixing. (If that makes any sense.) It should only take a simple configuration edit to fix this.

I really do believe that the function disables itself after a member has a certain amount of posts. I can vaguely remember a post speaking to that effect, but have no idea where to find it now. I’m sure the mods would be much more knowledgable about this subject than me.

I’ll attempt to turn off the auto function on your account. I mean a guy that been a member for a day, has 27 in that day, and is already bitching needs attention.

ThunderSS, I believe that the issue needs attention. Though I’m sure there are more important things to tend to! I’m happy that you’re aware of the problem, and I trust that you will do your best to take care of it. I know that the forums are important to you, as they seem to be to everyone. So that’s all. I’ve got the quality of the community at mind, and I was simply pointing this out. I apologize for assuming that it would be so easy to correct, and perhaps suggesting that it had been carelessly overlooked.

I promise to be an active, helpful, sincere member. I appreciate everything that everyone is doing here. It’s really awesome. I’ll donate in a few months, assuming everything goes smoothly henceforth.
