Stretching past EL

Stretching past EL

What are your thoughts on the importance of making sure your stretches go past your EL?

For example my BPEL is about 6.3, but when I do my stretches I usually don’t go past 5.5 (it is difficult to consistently go past 5.5 for me without pain).

I’m sure this topic has been brought up but I couldn’t find much. Thanks,

Its unusual for your bpfsl (bone pressed flaccid stretched length) to be less than your erect length (bpel). For most guys its at least a 1/4 inch more. So either your aren’t measuring correctly or you are very unusual. Second, pain should always stop you in PE. Pain is a warning from your body…LISTEN TO IT!

The other consideration is when you are over-trained, your smooth muscle contracts and can shorten your bpfsl dramatically, so consider that. If thats the case, take a week off PE and measure bpfsl daily and see if it doesn’t get longer. The third thing is if you have sensitive smooth muscle like me, and I pull hard to measure bpfsl, THAT ALONE can cause reflex shortening from smooth muscle stress, and each successive measurement gets shorter and shorter. Try a firm pull, but not hard.

Good luck!

Thanks sparky, I am measuring correctly - I keep a very detailed spreadsheet of my PIs every day along with a detailed description of my workouts.

I have been able to pull my FSL to over 6” (so basically = to my BPEL) but I really have to pull to do that and it doesn’t feel natural. I wouldn’t say it hurts, but it just feels a bit much.

I haven’t overtrained at all. Started 3 weeks ago (after a 4 year break from PE) with 1 day on 2 days off. Then continued with 1 on 1 off (which I am still following). I am taking it very slow this time around.

So given that information, should I just continue on with my medium stretches even though they don’t reach my BPEL and see if it improves in a few months?

I am in a similar situation in that my FSL is shorter than my BPEL. I’ve always been a grower and my flaccid has always been very difficult to stretch, but after 3 months of PE it is definitely loosening up.

Thanks UM, so do you consistently stretch it past your EL now?

Does everyone else always stretch past their EL when doing their stretch routines?

When I started my BPEL and BPFSL were both identical, now my BPFSL is exactly 1 inch longer then my BPEL. I have been doing PE since August.

Did you achieve this through regular stretches or some kind of extender?

What matters is your true size, right? So, bpfsl is merely a MEASURE for you to keep track of gains. So, just try and use the same amount of force each time, and you will have a measurement that is giving you valid information.

Use the force you are comfortable with for your stretches, and keep track of your bpfsl and see if you begin to see gains. If not, you could try going just a little harder, and see how that effects your bpfsl.

let me add that u have never measured my fsl. the reason for this is i dont know how. i am uncut and i dont know where to grab to stretch…even so im positive my fsl is shorter than bpel when i first started. can someone help me out?
