Shaving

The best trick for shaving and avoiding a rash, bumps, or inflammation is the following:

1. Use very warm water in the shower to wet the area and soften up the hair follicles.
2. Loofah the area gently using a mild soap to loosen any ingrown hairs and to prevent future ones.
3. Shave with a new or slightly used razor rinsing it frequently with hot water.
4. After shower and drying off, splash on a mild astringent (like Neutrogena) and let it dry.
5. Use a bit of hydrocortisone and rub into the shaved areas.
6. I also add a touch of neosporin for quick healing.
7. After, just use a high quality lotion till time to shave again.

Do this for the first day after shaving and there will be no bumps, no redness, no itch. Absolutely foolproof!

Length for looks. Girth for gasps!

I’ve tried everything hard8 recommended to no avail. I always had the ingrown hairs. On one of my business trips to Santa Fe, a store carried PFBVanish and the owner of the store swore it stopped all sorts of the nastiness of shaving, especially ingrowns.

Expecting the usual, I tried it.

It works! I shave everyday now, religiously. The biggest no-no in shaving is to shave against the grain as that’s the surest way to get ingrowns. Even with that, I still don’t get ingrowns. Just use it twice a day (the label says once is enough) and life is good.

(Look it up on amazon if interested)

If girth is king, why the hell does everyone keep talking about length?

This method always worked for me but I am not very hairy. I do use the loofah regularly though to prevent ingrown hairs. I never get any. Like you, I shave with the grain. For me, the hydrocortisone works like a charm as an anti-inflammatory agent. A few female friends have tried this method with great success. That product does sound interesting though and may be good for someone with heavier growth.

Look into a shaving cream.I believe it is called Coochie? I’ve always had problems with itch and red bumps when I shave (Probably because I have thick ass hair).but after I used this stuff I had no problems. Smooth, itch free and almost 0 red bumps.

For those that have hair that climbs up their legs - what do you to avoid looking completely ridiculous with hair all the way up legs and then a bald pubic area? Do you shave/taper your legs too? Like I said earlier, I tried shaving clean once, but it just looked stupid. Comments?

I trim with an electric razor so it’s like very short hair (not prickly) then I shave the bit at the very base using a woman’s leg razor. Works perfectly

Ordered one as an experiment.

This is the Cleancut ES412 Personal Shaver. Having used it for a couple of weeks, I find it performs as expected. Best results when hair length being shaved is "stubble" or "morning after". Any hairs that grow parallel to the skin surface can present resistance to being shaved. I like the item.

Use the Gillette Fussion it’s awsome :) :) couple of minutes and your done :)

I actually just take my regular razor down there, shave against the grain (Never had any problems, though I might just be godlike), and add perfume free after shave to top it off. Hurts like a bitch, but no redness. Wash it off, then lotion. The rationale would of course be that most of that discomfort is bacteria getting into sensitive areas, and the alcohol kills it off.

But I mostly just keep some kind of maintenance level, and go bald ball sack when I expect to get laid.

About once a week I shave the area around the base of my penis and the upper scrotum to keep hair out of my clamps.

“Magic Razorless Cream Shave” by SoftSheen-Carson (they make hair care products for black folks) works BEAUTIFULLY. Ofcourse they recommend against using it anywhere other than your face/beard. I saw someone post a link for it in this topic that led to ebay, but once I SAW what the product was, I just went to the ‘beauty supply’ store and picked some up. I’ve only used it once, but I love the results and will never shave my pubic region again. :D

I shave clean all the time. I find that I enjoy the feeling of a freshly shaved unit in my boxers. Not to mention I have found that women are pleasantly surprised when they see the fully shaved unit.

Shaving sucks. Tweezer.

Tweezing sucks. Wax.
