Shaving your pubes

Alright any tips on shaving your pubic hair I’ve never really done it I usually just trim but a lot of woman I know say they prefer shaven. I need to know what products to use shaving cream, razors, lotions, aftershave.etc. Whatever I have sensitive skin and I’m probably prone to getting a rash and ingrown hairs so please give me some advice help a brother out. Thank you.

Get an electric beard trimmer; you can adjust how much you want to shave off in different areas and prevent scrapes.

I used to completely shave mine, but I finally bought me an electric beard trimmer and leave a bit down there and it works great. Just know the first month or two of shaving its going to feel weird, itch, and possibly be very irritated but its normal and will get better after the area is conditioned.

I wish I could shave, but the multiple ingrown hairs in such a sensitive area are unbearable (especially when jeans rub). I tried the option of trimming low instead of shaving it all off to avoid ingrown hairs, but the scattered hairs just looks like I did a messy job of trying to groom myself. *sigh* If anyone is aware of any tips to avoid ingrown hairs (I’m black) and still get a close shave please share.

Big to bigger.

I tried every method to avoid the ingrown hairs nothing really worked for me, I just eventually quit getting them. I’m white, does a black and whites hairs differ much?

Well black hair (and other races I can’t remember which ones) is real kinky/ nappy and has a tendency to curl up under the skin before it can break through the surface (as with any ingrown hair). I wasn’t trying to imply it was a black problem, but it’s a problem that the majority of black men deal with. Even when it comes to facial hair I cannot shave close or I will get ingrown hairs on my chin, cheeks, and neck - the scars left on my face are unsightly. I would love to be able to get a close shave like Will Smith.

My mom is a beautician and she has dealt with all sorts of hair and has told me for years that there is no way around my genetics. My brother just began shaving and can shave his face with a razor and hasn’t had a single bump, so not all black men have this problem. I just get as close of a shave as I can with my trimmers. Thanks everyone i think i might buy and electric razor i saw at tj maxx it was a set with a regular razor and a beard and percision razor which both can be of use its always nice to have a clean shave.

Tip of the day:

Don’t use one of those electric razors that are made for cutting your hair.

Took a perfect triangle of skin right off when I went down the base of my penis just a bit too far.

Thankfully it healed up nicely but I’ll always have a little, faint red triangle on the transition part between the base of my penis and my sack.

Never again.

Hi. I just use a very sharp and new razor and standard shaving gel. Works fine for me, never had an issue. Find that talc and moisturiser work if there is any itching.

Believe it or not, I use Nair for men. First I tried a little dab on my scrotum and left it on for 30 seconds. When that didn’t cause any problems - no redness or swelling - I moved up to one minute. Then two, then three, etc. And now I leave it on for 5 minutes without a problem. THIS WILL NOT BE THE CASE FOR EVERYONE!!

BE VERY CAREFUL IF YOU TRY THIS!! A scrotum is NOT something to be trifled with when using caustic chemicals! But it works for me and I get a very smooth scrotum this way.

I razor shave also, pubes, scrotum, perineum and ass-crack. It is great in the summer, no jock itch ever, no matter how hot it gets.

I use the Quattro Titanium exclusively. It has only nicked me 1 time in the last 6 months, and it was my fault.. My hand slipped.

If there is some chafing, I use an anti-chafing product from Monistat — it is available at CVS pharmacies for those in the US.

Well one thing that I know for sure, always use fresh blades, the moment they start to dull switch. I like to use the Schick disposables their MUCH cheaper than the others so your not trying to get every Penny’s worth out of your blades.

i read that you could use womans disposable razors and use shaving cream so i may try that but i also read it is good to hot towel the area too because it softens and moistens the hair which can help prevent from any irritatation. I don’t feel like paying 50 bucks for an electric razor that is meant for pubes so i’ll just find some disposables.
