I won’t go into the details of it here, but I have some erectile difficulties.

Anyway, I started the newbie routine. After I finish the initial 5 minutes of stretching and it’s time to start jelqing, it might take me a while to get the necessary erection level for proceeding. Is this a problem? Is it alright to take as much time as necessary? Because what I’m finding is that the pressure I put oh myself to get an erection as soon as possible causes me anxiety issues which only serves to exacerbate my ED. So I’m basically just asking whether it’s okay to take my time, or whether this is not ideal as the jelq should be done close to stretching.

I’m almost hijacking my own thread here, but to avoid starting another one unnecessarily, I’ll extend this by presenting another problem that’s occurred to my n00bish mind: how can you reliably ensure that you stay above a 40% erection level for the entire 10 minutes or so? Should some level be retained simply by the steady jelqing rhythm? Because of my ED issues, I’m deeply concerned about the prospect of losing erections and thus messing everything up. I just don’t know what to do. Please help, anybody with experience on this.

You’re thinking about it in an unhealthy way. Jelqs and kegels (which you didn’t mention but I highly recommend doing) are both very beneficial to boosting EQ and combating ED. Don’t worry about erection levels. Jelq for the sake of jelqing (as long as you’re being safe and pay attention to your PI’s, of course) and your ED will improve on its own. PE is meant to be fun. Enjoy the process and your erection level will take care of itself.

I was thinking about it in that way because the guides seem to emphasize the importance of say a 40% to 80% erection level, consistent pressure etc. I am finding it difficult not only achieving a suitable erection level when I need to but also maintaining it. Therefore I end up in this stop-start pattern such that a 10 minute jelq session ends up taking 25 minutes. By the end of it, I’m not even satisfied that I’ve achieved any sort of effective workout.

Would it be worth getting some sort of pump or something, to rapidly bring myself back to erection?

I am envisaging ongoing problems and I’ve barely even started. I understand your point about thinking about it all in an unhealthy way; I shouldn’t over-think stuff. But at the same time, I’m eager to reach a position where I feel as if I’m able to do it all properly.

Also, maybe this sounds stupid, but I’m not sure I totally understand the principles behind maintaining an erection while jelqing. Are you supposed to stay “turned on” / aroused somehow? If so, then how? I mean, I can imagine some people watching porn or whatever, but what about for people such as myself that struggle with mental focus and sustained arousal for health reasons etc? Has anybody found any effective physical/psychological solutions?

I’ll address your issues paragraph by paragraph.

Those numbers are guidelines. The reason we jelq at certain erection levels is so that 1) you have enough blood in your penis to properly benefit from the exercise, and 2) the tunica doesn’t become so rigid that you can’t create expansion and gain without risking serious injury. Don’t jelq by reps or time; jelq by how your dick feels. If there’s slight soreness (like what you’d feel after a good workout at the gym), you’re doing the right amount. If there’s pain, you’ve gone too far. If you don’t feel anything, you’re not exercising to your full potential.

I’m a college student living in a shared dorm, so I don’t pump both because of my current living conditions, and because that’s something I choose not to do. I’m usually not aroused when I do my workouts, so I create my erection level from jelqing and kegels, both of which force blood into the penis. One way to go about doing this is making a tight ok-grip at your base (remember, we want to trap blood in the penis so make sure it’s tight), let go, kegel really hard and fast, then resume your grip. Keep doing that until you reach your desired erection level.

You’ll reach that position you strive for in time. Remember: PE isn’t a race; it’s a journey. Follow the process, pay attention to your body, and you’ll eventually end up where you want to be.
