Hi, all. I’m just starting out jelqing and have sent for the Power Jelq. Is it OK to start out using this, or should I start with my hands? All replies are really welcome. Thanks, Ron

You should really get the feel for manual jelqing(both wet and dry) and all of its variations and intensities. This way you’ll be able to appreciate using the powerjelq to supplement your manual jelqing techniques.

Thanks peforeal. I have manually jelqed three times now and awaiting the postman to deliver my PJ. I think I got the “Hang” of it, lol! You say to “supplement” my manual jelqing. Can’t I just use the PJ all the time, using it for stretching also? Thanks, Iwannabigone.

You’ll probably find manual stretching, using just your hand and some baby (talcum) powder will be less traumatic to your unit than squeezing it with the PJ and pulling. There’s a bit of a stretch happening while you PJ, but it’s not going to be the same as a dedicated manual stretch. Search the Newbie Forum for “manual stretch” to get some threads about it. Also search for “PJ” or “PowerJelk” for threads on how people use that device (I’m one of them).

I think it’s important to be able to switch between sound manual jelqing/stretching (wet or dry) and the powerjelq. You can’t always have your PJ with you (like at work), but you always have your hands to slip in some PE work just about any time of the day. Plus the feel on your dick that you get from jelqing/stretching with the PJ is different from using manual techniques. All of them are valuable.

Each of these methods brings something unique to the PE table. I think it’s critical that variety is a consistent part of a longterm program in order to keep your dick guessing and to help minimize plateau periods. I’ve indicated a previous post below that I made over a year ago about using the powerjelq. You might want to read it for some additional pointers on using the PJ.

Since you are a newbie, I caution you not to get too aggressive initially with the PJ (i.e. squeeze too hard). There should never be any discomfort. Start with a light and slow grip and gradually work up your squeeze intensity and duration of technique.

As of today, I personally still regularly use both manual and PJ jelqing routines.

Thanks peforeal and westla. I noticed too that the PJ gives erection and engorges penis quickly. I think it was well worth the cost to purchase it. Will take it easy at the start. Also, should I Jelq for 4 or 5 days in a row at the beginning? I have only jelqed 3 times so far. Should I do it every other day for a week or so, or can I jelq 4-5 days in a row right away?

Everyone is different. It depends on how erect you are, the grip you use, how sensitive your skin is, how hard you squeeze, etc. If you can do strokes that are 3 to 4 seconds long and do about 400 of them (or do 3 second strokes for about 20 minutes) and come back the next day and do them again without pain or discomfort, then you should be fine. Some guys can start at that level, others have to go more slowly at first. Listen to your body. Push it just a little, but don’t injure yourself. You’ll soon discover what you can handle.

Thanks Wesla. But I thought the penis needed time off to repair itself, or the jelqing doesnt take affect. That’s why I asked how often I should do it. I’ve heard do it for one day on and one day off for a while. Also heard to do it four or five days in a row and take one or two days off. Now I’m confused! Help!

DLD doesn’t take days off. He’s added (at least) five inches to his length. I do believe that the body needs time to repair, but from reading progress reports and routine information from several guys here it seems that overnight is enough time for repair. That may not be true for everyone. I don’t have the figures in front of me, but it seems a program that includes several days together with a day, or two, between (such as the 5 on 2 off routines) work well for a lot of guys.

You need to devise what works for you with your other life obligations such as work, school, family, etc. If doing PE every other day is what you need, it should be sufficient for gains. If you can do 5/2, that might work, too. PE will get results. A guy’s program can be individualized and doesn’t have to be the same as everyone else. The “secret” is to keep at it.
