Penis size inherited from maternal side of family?

After doing some research on facial hair growth (I was curious as to why I dont have facial hair when my father has lots of it) I discovered that the gene responsible for the androgen receptors is a gene inherited primarily from the maternal side of the family (X chromosome) which is responsible for male sex characteristics.

Perhaps this is already common knowledge on this forum, but I figured I’d try and confirm my new suspicion of penis size depending on the maternal side of the family.

I take after my mom heavily compared to my father. I’ll try to look for some studies on this.

Which information? The fact about the androgen receptor gene being located on the X chromosome, or the fact about androgen receptors being responsible for male sex characteristics? Well on the facial hair forum is when I first noticed that it was just common knowledge to all of them that the androgen receptor gene was dominantly inherited maternally. I just googled it to find that Wiki agreed and I could also infer this information from multiple studies done on androgen insensitivity syndrome stating that this was caused by the X chromosome.

And if you were asking about the androgen receptors being responsible for penis size, there are many sites stating penis size is dependent on the amount of androgen receptors in the penis during puberty.

But no, I don’t have any particular link that states this information specifically.

Your oversimplifying genetics, even a geneticist would have a hard time wrapping their heads around all the details. Anyway, my dad, who is large (penis we’re talking), doesn’t have a whole lot of facial hair, and neither do I. The two of my mother’s brothers who see fairly often either have had or currently have thick beards. Very anectodal, but my point being I don’t think we can extrapolate what you read and jump to the conclusion that penis size is overwhelmingly inherited from the mother.

I never said that penis size is “overwhelmingly” inherited from the mother. I simply stated that I read on a popular facial hair forum that everybody first suggests to anybody asking “why don’t I have facial hair” to look at the men on their maternal side of their family because the gene responsible for androgen receptors is inherited maternally. I don’t understand what you mean by oversimplifying genetics when all that is important in this question is whether the gene is dominantly inherited maternally or paternally, nothing to do with the detailed works of a geneticist. And the general consensus from what I can tell is that penis size is dependent on androgen receptors which lead me to ask this question, not jump to the conclusion that penis size is overwhelmingly inherited from the mother, as might have been interpreted apparently.

I have an uncle (by marriage) with what my aunt once described as having an enormous penis that he was quite ashamed of (associated it with low-class, crude people). My aunt mentioned to me once that he had to wear some sort of donut shaped device when having intercourse to avoid injuring my aunt by going too deep.

They have three sons. I have heard on various occasions that all three are quite largely blessed as well. I have seen the younger one erect (through clothing) and can vouch for his size. They all appear to be quite proud of what they have, unlike their father. An estimate would be that they are over 8 inches in length and quite girthy as well.

They certainly have not inherited their size from the mother’s side (my mother’s sister), which would have been fairly ordinary in size.

For what it’s worth, the three sons also inherited their father’s premature gray hair (at about age 25) and all were completely white-haired by age 40, as was their father. One of the three grew bald in his late 20’s (but white haired), while the other two have full heads of white hair exactly like their father.

I would have traded white hair for another inch in length. :)

I know there are a lot of people who have endowed with the same size penis as their father, and probably just as many who say “My father’s is quite large but me not so much.” Personally, I can tell my father probably has double my girth. I’m sure there are many factors in penis size and I highly doubt there is a single gene that will define it but I’m sure there are particular genes that may contribute to it since size has so many variations. I’m sure kids sitting at home eating doritos while playing playstation all day in their teen years on average will not grow to the average size of kids who spent all day running around in the backyard, playing sports and exercising. Of course there are contradictory examples to all of this and we’ll probably never know precisely what is the predictor of penis size, all we can do is speculate.

And hair color is actually a trait that is inherited by either parent, its the ability to grow facial which is what I was reading about. It was once believed that male pattern baldness was attributed to the gene inherited by the mother but now I’ve seen that is now a myth and also have seen studies still citing this information as seen in this link . I have not read these studies but I remember briefly passing over this title in the news. What I learned in school of why women don’t become bald as frequently as males do is because the gene responsible is located on the X chromosome and is recessive, so the female would have to inherit the gene from both parents. But I’m sure this was a very elementary explanation and after more reading I’ve now know there are many other genes that aren’t sex linked also responsible for male pattern baldness, just as most traits probably are, penis size and facial hair growth included.

My grandfather and father both were large, over 8 inches. Unfortunately I did not inherit this —- I’m only 7.5, but working with PE to improve my endowment….

You have an extremely open family Damfino. I don’t think I will ever hear anything this intimate from my aunts about their husbands nether regions.

With that deep, manly voice of his I wonder how big Tay Zonday’s member must be. On second thoughts, imagining him naked would probably scar me for life.

Since his mother is white I suppose it’s not very big.

Naab: Actually, the emphasis in the conversation with my aunt was on his shame and embarrassment about being so well-hung. Evidently he was ridiculed at school in gym class by the other boys who got a glimpse of his penis.

My aunt was a psychologist, and our conversations were some of the most important of my life in understanding human nature. I consider myself blessed in having her as a mentor.

Getting back on topic: It appears the three sons had their fathers chest-hair patterns and characteristics as well. Very hairy, with a tendency to turn gray quite young in life.
