Actually, muscle memory has little or nothing to do with building muscle but rather your neuromuscular patterns. For example, when someone is learning the guitar, their hand has no ‘memory’ of where they’re supposed to be… then over time, as your the hand gets used the chord shapes and scale patterns, you can play them with your eyes closed and your fingers just ‘know’ where to go for which ever chord your choose. That is ‘muscle memory.’ This is why older people with memory issues such as dementia will still be able to play the piano and read music. This skills go to a different part of the brain than your average thought memory, therefor use different neurotransmitters and synapses within the brain. However, muscle memory will help you regain strength & some endurance because the exercises will be able to be performed properly (if you were doing them properly) with less effort. Just thought I’d clear that up…
