I switched from boxer briefs to boxers when I started to see PE working for me (to maximize the chances for it to work as many suggest) and while I can’t tell that it specifically helped, I’ve also had some gains that I wouldn’t trade for a million dollars - I’m staying with my boxers.
I tried being a purist and going commando for a couple of weeks early on but it was just too damn distracting physically. I found that the boxers limited movement a little which helped but everything is still free to do a full gravity assisted hang (and boxers make things less visually less distracting for other eyes which was a concern for me). Fortunately, I walk and/or stand most of the day for my job so the boys don’t get too much of a break. Good luck young boss!
