Overtraining without knowing it

I’m only into my 3rd week of exercises. For the first two weeks I did a lighter version of the Newbie routine just to get acquainted with the exercises. I did 5 minutes of stretching and 5 minutes of jelqing following a good 10 minutes of warmup. I exercised for 3 days then took a day off. I had nothing but positives come from these first two weeks. So, now in my 3rd week, I bumped the exercising up to 10 minutes of stretching and 10 minutes of jelqing. I also brought the vacuum pump in for 10 minutes (1 set at 2-4 pressure) at the end of each session.

I’ve had the pump for a year now because I bought it to help when I was having erection troubles awhile back (and it worked very well). I’ve been at this routine now for 4 straight days (6 straight days of just the stretching and jelqing part). I continue to have nothing but positives come from my exercising: bigger flaccid which hangs very well, a very good EQ, good solid morning woods EVERY morning, and the ability to get hard whenever I want.

My question is this: could I still be overdoing it even though my penis doesn’t give me the typical indicators of overdoing it? I feel like I could keep going and going without a rest day, but everywhere I read I see that rest days are very critical for growth. Is it possible that I am actually undertraining? Or maybe I have a very tough penis that can withstand a lot of punishment and requires more force than normal?

I haven’t been doing any PE for a while now, but I found that for me personally, getting harder erections than normal and for longer durations than normal was a sign that gains were coming. If you stopped PE altogether, your regular erections would return and remain unchanged. The fact that they are harder and longer (duration) suggests that gains are coming.

If I were you, I would stick with the 3 on 1 off routine as it is obviously working. Through my limited experience, I found that even one extra day of PE without a rest can send me from super EQ to no boner for 2 weeks. That is extremely discouraging when you are making gains and motivated from previously positive results. Chances are, you wouldn’t wait for it to heal fully due to you anxiousness for those positive results again, and you would start a vicious cycle of ups and downs.

If you stay with the 3 on 1 off schedule for a while and you don’t feel like you are getting those “super-boners” after a few weeks, try adding a day or increasing reps etc.

That is just my opinion from a “slow and safe” point of view. All the best.

Thanks for the advice WideLoad. Yes, the 3 on 1 off gave me excellent EQ. I know this for a fact because my EQ wasn’t all that good before I started.

But with these 6 straight days, I haven’t seen the drop in EQ. If anything, it only got stronger. This is why I’m wondering if I might be one of those guys that either needs to PE everyday without rest OR overtrains without clearly being able to see it. I guess I entered PE with the mindset that I was going to do what my dick wanted me to do. If it wanted me to exercise that day, I would. Haha, but I never thought he would be telling me to go beyond 4-5 straight days. Tonight would be 5 straight days of Stretching, Jelqing, and Pumping. And 7 straight days of Stretching and Jelqing.

So, anyone else have any opinions on this? Like I said above, tonight would be 7 straight days of PE if I go. My dick feels like it wants it too ;)

Maybe I’m missing something with my P.I.s? What other indicators could my penis give off that I might be overdoing it?

Going by all knowledge that I have gained from this site you sound good though. P.I’s are the best thing to go with right now because no one can tell you what your body will and will not respond to. You are an individual. The thing that I would watch out for is that you don’t want to do more then necessary because it will toughen you up to fast and make gains harder. That is something I need to watch out for as well. Even with out growth better erections mean good things and that’s that.

Yeah, I’ve read this numerous times. So, I think I’m going to be cautious of it. I went ahead and did my stretching and jelqing tonight, but left the pump out. I’ll take the next days off now and I think I’m going to settle in on 5 on 2 off. I’ve read in more places than not that rest days are critical. For now, I’ll stick with the numbers and make sure I include them. Thanks for your help.

I don’t like doing the 3/1 split because it is like a rotating shift and some days of the week I am busy. I do 2 on, 1 off, 2 on, 2 off. So basically Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday. It has worked out great for me, Has anyone else tried this method?

I’ve experienced a weird effect from pumping previously where: the pump offsets (because of the beneficial effects) the negative PI’s i’m giving myself by over-stretching/Jelqing etc.

You may want to isolate everything first and learn what your body can tolerate before jumbling it up together.

You know, this was something that I was thinking about 3 nights ago while I was pumping. I bought the pump a year ago because I was having problems getting an erection and I didn’t really know about jelqing. After 3 or 4 sessions, my erections returned. I’m thinking you might be right about this. I didn’t do any pumping last night and I’m taking today and tomorrow off to see what happens. I don’t think I’ll bring the pump back out next week though, just to see if maybe it is covering up overtraining. Thanks Sophomoric

First I am going to see where my EQ goes after these 2 days of rest. Then next week I am going to drop the pump and increase stretching and jelqing time to 15 minutes to see where that leads me. It’s been 24 hours since my last PE workout. EQ is still pretty high so far.

Just another thought: could supplements hide overtraining as well? Especially boner-inducing supplements? I’ve been taking Ginkgo and L-Arginine.

Just a little update on the thoughts here.

My last PE workout was Thursday night, so it’s been nearly 72 hours since I did a workout. What I have found to be the case was that my EQ has remained high (this is without supplements for these days as well). BUT, I have noticed that my flaccid is different. It’s still hanging very well, but it also seems more “relaxed.” As in, it’s not hanging because it’s full of blood, it’s hanging because it looks like it has relaxed into a new size. It has a stretched-out look almost to it.

I’m also noticing a lot of stretch mark looking ridges running horizontally along the top near the base. Not sure what these mean or if they have any importance.
