When society as a whole defines a minority the definition is usually based on extremes.

For example. Some gay guys are very flamboyant, like Jack on Will and Grace. We tend to think of gay guys like Jack, but most are not. Some gay guys talk a lot about packages so we as the strait world fixate on that aspect because, well, it is entertaining, as is Jack’s behavior. This entertainment is insidiously because the mean within a minority is defined incorrectly.

Growing up in the Bay Area, I have learned that most gay people are like most strait people, they just happen to feel romantic and sexual feelings for members of the same sex and well, might have a slightly better sense of style ;)
