Naked Tomatoe the phenomenon of Newbie gains or a lig-pop (as it is also sometimes called), is fairly well documented around here.
But I urge you to forget your goals for a while.
PE is about patience and consistency. It’s about working with what you’ve got and improving it. That’s not just size, but function as well.
Your new idea about your routine is headed toward beating the hell out of your unit. It’s too much of an increase. What’s more, it seems to be arbitrary. Why wet and dry jelqs for example? That seems like an intellectually derived idea rather than an experiential one. You’d do well to base any changes to your routine on what is working for you instead.
There is an idea that one shouldn’t change anything as long as one is gaining. One should only make an adjustment (an increase or a substantive change - like adding in mechanical PE) to one’s routine when gains have been exhausted and a plateau has been reached and held firm for a number of months.
The Newbie Routine is recommended, as is, for the first three months (minimum), because: 1) your body is adjusting and 2) you are in a learning phase.
Focus on learning, not gaining.
It takes only a few minutes to learn a routine, but to really have an understanding of the impact it has requires that you really listen to your body.
All that is to say: it takes time. Time to really know what you’re doing and to then gain from doing it.
It’s good to have goals - and to keep them in mind. But it’s not as good to say “I want X number of gains by Christmas” and stack up your routine accordingly. When you raise your expectations that way the likelihood is frustration and disappointment are in your future.
We don’t want you to get frustrated and quit. We want you to reach your goals - without injury. Again, that takes time.
And maybe someday you can explain the Nightwish reference (Finnish metal?) to me. I’m a little slow when it comes to metal.
bottonbuck please don’t misunderstand. You express yourself well. You have a tendency to get caught up and make extended run-on sentences is all.
Your posts are very good, as everyone, including the boss has said. Keep it up.
Just edit. :)
