Morning Wood Theory.

Morning Wood Theory.

Hey everyone,

I have been pondering over morning wood lately (nite wood too I guess, but medically it is considered the same thing). Prior to ever starting PE, I recall that I’d get morning wood from time to time and it wasn’t something of a daily event. This was during my teens. After much research, I have learned that the process behind morning wood is the body’s way of determining everything is in proper working order. You could think of it as a “oil check”. If the body finds something wrong, it will help repair the penis.

The interesting thing here is that not everyone gets daily morning wood. Would this mean that your body just randomly chooses to do an “oil check”? Probably not, it may be a case where the penis has undergone something strenuous like sex, and that certain chemicals are excreted by the cells that triggers the body to perform a check. If we consider it this way, this would make sense of why PE results an increase of morning wood. PE can be considered a strenuous event for your penis. The penis is made to undergo the morning wood process and repairs are made if needed.

I propose the following: If you have sex or masturbated today, for example, see if you get some morning wood the next morning when you wake up. This would be an interesting test to see the results of. If this is true, then one should technically be getting morning wood every day after a PE session from the prior night. If you aren’t then, perhaps your penis is overworked to the point where it is just too exhausted, but at the same time it could be that your penis did not face a strenuous enough PE session. This is something you may have to test out yourself.

If you do a PE session today, and find you do not have morning wood the next day. Perhaps you may be underworking it or overworking it. I suggest doing it a day or two more to see if any changes happen. If nothing happens, then try reducing your force/time used. See what happens the next day. If you find you have morning wood, then you know you have been overworking your penis. If you still find nothing, and you continue the PE session at the same force/time for another day or two and nothing still happens, you may need to increase the force and/or time needed. Repeat the process again to see your results.

Now, if you are getting an erratic case of some mornings you have it and some you don’t, then you may need to adjust your day on/off routine. First, attempt to see if you can figure out a pattern. Spend a week or so writing down whether or not you had some wood that morning. Here you want to make a guess of when you will have a day of non-wood coming up, when you think you got one that might be coming up, take the night prior off. Eventually you may be able to find a working day on/off schedule that works for you.

Now, what if NONE of these things are doing anything? You may need to take a decon break for 2-3 weeks and see if anything starts happening. Another situation may be the time of day that you’re doing your PE session. This one I have not personally tested out myself. It may be a case where doing PE in the morning will result in wood the next day, or maybe later at night would do it.

If the decon break doesn’t seem to be changing anything for you, you may need to see a doctor (assuming you’re having other penis problems too). It is possible that medication you are on is conflicting with it as well. There are medications out there that can “Increased difficulty in obtaining erection” or “loss of ability to gain an erection.” Take a look at their side effects sometimes.

Anyways, in my case, I have noticed virtually no morning wood despite my routine. This was starting to concern me, so yesterday I decided to do my extender session only and forgo any manual PE. I was going to start a PE decon break today, but then I found myself waking up to a ~70% erection after I moved a bit in bed. This surprised me and had lead me to consider that my manual PE session may be too demanding for my penis. I will continue the use of the extender only today and find out what happens tomorrow morning.

So in a nut shell, you should get be getting morning wood almost daily if you’re properly doing PE. The morning wood can serve as an indicator that your penis is repairing itself from the PE.

Portions of this theory is based off of Sparky’s EQ guide and his “less is more” guide. Here portions of both guides are condensed into one, along with some of my own thoughts as well.

Makes a lot of sense to me.

I always have a morning wood, but I tend to do my routine at noon. It’s funny and cool how my penis isn’t checking itself up until I fall asleep. I do a lot of edging, though.

Yeah, the penis has a mind of its own. :P

It also works in conjunction to the teenage years. The male penis grows quite a bit through puberty, which explains why you had so much morning wood at that age. The body was continually checking to make sure everything is in working order. It doesn’t serve the body well if it just grows like crazy and doesn’t do any checks, because it could end up with a non-functioning penis. The body’s main priority, as you have grew up into adulthood, is to ensure the success of your genes being passed on. In a sense, the only truly immortal thing in the world is your genes. Its immortality lasts as long as you pass it on which is why so much significance is placed upon sex (and why the organs are so sensitive).

Testosterone levels are highest in the morning, and your muscles are relaxed during sleep.

I'm a disciple of science.

Where you wake up in your sleep cycle also determines whether you have morning wood. Almost all men get night wood, but many don’t know it. I am now 40, and I still wake up with morning wood almost every morning. I attribute that to trying to get a solid eight hours of sleep each night. This morning I woke up an hour and a half to two hours early, with a raging boner. Maybe that was what woke me up. I took it as a good sign, and gave myself permission to pump again today. Usually I do a one day on, one day off schedule because I pump pretty intensely. But with a rock solid P.I. like I woke up to this morning, I just figured I could go for it. Maybe it’s time to move to two on one off. We will see I guess.

Yeah this is the difficulty for me. I’m never sure if I’m getting them or not.

I don’t think your hypothesis of why morning wood occurs is correct.

Mainly two things bother me:

- You don’t actually need to be fast asleep to get a spontaneous wood - simply being very sleepy can do the trick as well. I remember when I was in the military and we had these long boring lectures about unimportant stuff, we were all sitting there barely able to keep our eyes open and desperately trying not to fall asleep. Half the room would get boners from this. (It sounds so wrong when you say it like that)
I also often get a night wood when laying in bed at night, before I fall asleep.

- “Morning wood” happens several times during the night. If it was a means to ensure that everything was functioning as intended, I see no point in that.

I think most occurrences are primarily related to muscle relaxation, as scienceguy mentioned. Which would in turn be related to fluctuations in how deep of a state of sleep you’re in.

I have to concur. Even when I took an entire year off from PE I would always get morning wood, every single morning. As long as I can remember I’ve always had morning wood before I lost my virginity and before I started masturbating. I also get wood when I’m sleepy it never fails LOL

Testosterone and overall blood vessel health contribute the most to morning/nocturnal wood.
