Mirro Jar Lifter

Does anyone know how “jar lifter” translates to dutch? Literally that would be “kruik tiller”, but when doing a Google search I get nothing. Maybe it is referred to by a totally different name in Dutch?

Also, anyone knows where I can buy one of those jar lifters in the Netherlands? I tried Praxis but no luck so far.

Do you do home canning over there? Like, where people make their own jellies, preserves, stewed tomatoes — that kind of stuff? That’s what a canning jar lifter is used for.

I see jar lifters at gourmet cooking stores in the US. Maybe y’all have something similar amid all the brothels and marijuana cafes that many Americans believe are ubiquitous in the Netherlands. (:

Ike, I’m certain we do home canning over here, I’m just not one of them. But my dear ol’ Mom does, so I will ask her, when she isn’t busy with a customer or stoned out of her mind, that is. hehe ;)

Mule, I also searched for a Jar Lifter here in Germany and did find them.
But not those with the rolls on - so I ordered it at eBay.com and payed via Paypal.
If you don’t find one in your country, maybe this would be an option for you?

JohnJohn, as I understand it, you have to make the rolls yourself. Either way, if I can’t find a Jar Lifter here then eBay seems a better option over having it shipped from a U.S. based company, should save me some on shipping costs and time.

I found something like this in Germany (look at the attached picture).
But this one is without rolls and so I ordered one from the USA (eBay).
I ordered 5 and sold the other 4 to german PEers… so the total cost was below $10 per unit.
