Manual Stretching without a warm up?

I’ve tried using the search feature on the forum, no luck.

I tend to do stretching whenever it pops into my head, for instance sitting at the computer or laid in bed. I don’t bother with a warm up, I just stretch for around 10 minutes holding each stretch around 30 seconds. I would just like to know if this is safe to perform on my unit, and whether it will affect my gains doing it without a warm up?

I wouldn’t say it is unsafe as long as you aren’t applying a ton of tension, but there are many threads out there on the added benefits of doing warm-ups. I always warm up no matter what. I just take a rice sock and microwave it for about a minute and a half then use if for warm ups and sometimes during stretches, depending on the stretch.

Personally, I’m afraid to stretch without warming up. It just doesn’t feel right to me, I have an awkward feeling that something is going to tear (even though it most likely won’t).

In other words, I strongly advise you to warm up. Bottom line is you’re less likely to injure yourself and it’s going to be easier to deform the tissue (which is the point of stretching).

I am by no means an expert on PEing. I lift weights though. I ALWAYS warmup up before going heavy. I will use this as part of my PE routine as well.

Please do not take my advice as set in stone.

Hey Samzon. You don’t have to worry about an injury, as long as you’re not using too much force, or stretch for too long. But…keep in mind that using a warm up makes the tissues in the penis a lot more pliable, which means that you will gain better.

I tend to think about it this way and in this order:

1. Getting in a 10 minute stretching session when i have a spare moment is better than not doing a stretching session.

2. Getting your dick warmed up before a stretching session is better than not getting your dick warmed up before a stretching session.

3. Applying some form of heat (i.e. rice sock, hot water, heat lamp, mouth of a hot chick, etc …) during a stretching session is better than not applying heat

PE is ALWAYS better if you add as much heat to the equation as is feasible … but it isn’t always practical … so don’t skip a PE opportunity if you can’t use heat

Thanks guys for your replies. I guess the general idea here is to warm up if I can I guess, i’ll put more thought into warming up each time. If its an option i’ll definitely make sure I use it.

True … but this isn’t a free pas to never do warm-ups or apply heat

You should figure out a way for heat to be an option more frequently than not

You have received good advice. However, like you, I like to take advantage of available time when it presents itself to get in a few minutes of stretching - bathroom breaks, laying in bed waiting to fall asleep, watching tv with just sweat pants on, etc. I have been doing it for more than two years and have not injured my dick so far.

But I do want to clarify my previous posts. I am suggesting the addition of heat primarily because I am convinced that 10 minutes of warm stretching is more EFFECTIVE that 10 minutes without heat.

Yeah I’ll keep on stretching whenever the opportunity is available, but I’ll most certainly warm up before hand if its an option I can use. Other than that before any PE I always warm up, I mainly do it in the shower so its two birds with one stone really. I know how important and crucial a warm up is to the routine and fore mostly my health.
