Major 1st question, dorsal nerve, please help

12

The ‘damaged nerves do re-grow, but very slowly’ is probably one of mine. It will have been in response to a question which did not deal with total severance of the nerve. I cannot think of a PE practice likely to permanently damage a nerve, although many could cause minor trauma to nerves.

Trapped/compressed/bruised nerves/nerve sheaths etc. are all very common. If you have ever been ‘dead legged’ or ‘banged your funny-bone’ or had sciatica, a cricked neck etc. you have experienced common forms of nerve damage. These can range from trivial to quite severe. Even quite severe nerve injuries will usually recover over time; the worse the injury the longer the recovery. Nerves are very slow growing.

Most of us will have had some nerve damage at various times and forgotten about it. Permanent damage usually occurs from very serious injuries and is thus far less common.

I’m sure westla would be the man to ask for detailed information, but trying to diagnose over the www is never a good practice.

Thank God for firegoat, always with a new level of clarity.

Hey apolonas, have you got to the doctor yet? How’s it going?

Mostly we’re just trying to give you a little perspective here and let you know that, while your problem is frustrating, and has probably made you nervous, you’re most likely going to be okay.

Have you anything new to report regarding your condition?

Hi there gentlemen and ladies,

As this is my first post and I am still in the information gathering phase of my quest, I just wanted to say that this is an awesome thread. I will be following this issue for a while. If stress is a factor here, I would think that even by simply applying the warm up techniques and lite massage could only improve the situation. From a psychological standpoint, doing something (even if it does nothing) should ease your mind and make for a more clearheaded doctors appointment.

As a newbie, I wanted to thank all participants. Had I not found resources and support here, I would probably just toss the whole idea of PE out and move on with life. Instead, I’ve been reading through content for three days.

Thanks everyone,

WELCOME, Snake, to Thunder’s Place.

Alright guys so I went to the doctor and explained the situation. He told me not to be worried and that although the situation was likely caused by some sort of damage.. It is my stress that is magnifying the symptoms. He sent me for a test to trace the blood flow to my penis and also for a blood test. Currently I still have a certain amount of pain on the top of my penis right below the head.in that patch of nerves and arteries. The doctor gave me medicine for that and I will be meeting him again next week to see wat he thinks.

DO you guys have any suggestions other than applying heat for dealing with pain and improving bloodflow.because so far that has helped a lot?

It sounds like you have a very good doctor. Apart from very light massage along with the heat, I have no other suggestions.

The stress can certainly make things seem far worse, when in fact there may be almost no problem at all.

I deal with injured athletes all day. When athletes are injured, they get stressed! It is very common for me to see them ‘testing’ the injury constantly to ‘see if it is still there’. The fact that they have to actively test to see if it is there means it is now so mild that it is barely noticeable, but if they can ‘find’ a tiny bit of pain they are still concerned that they are injured, when they should just forget about it and get on with their sport. Very often the constant testing (lightly doing the action that causes the pain) is the only thing keeping the injury going. If they stopped looking for the injury it would go away!

I agree with firegoat.

So you have had continuous pain since you injured yourself? Is that what we are to understand?

What kind of medicine, how many times per day, and what dosage?

Follow your doctor’s advice and try to relax.

In the meantime, please do try harder to proof your posts, use paragraph breaks (like I’ve done in the above quote), and hit the spell-check button.

Seriously, it’s not that hard and it’s part of the Forum Guidelines . I’m asking nicely.
