The correct amount of pressure for BPEL is hard against the bone. Push ‘til you can push no more. The idea is to get as close to the pubic bone as possible. As you say, this is about consistency and bones don’t move.
It’s good that you are both seeing an EQ difference and that you are not chalking this up to instant gains. PE is a long process.
