Lig Pop Question?

Lig Pop Question?

I started stretching again recently and was doing downwards stretches to target the ligs. When I felt good tension on the ligs I was pulling at decent force then decided to squat a bit as I noticed another day it increased the tension. Suddenly when I did that I heard a crunch/pop like sound. So I decided to do it again on the other side by pulling SE and it did it again.

I still wasnt sure so I tried it again today and it happened again? Is this what you would call a lig pop as I have never gotten them before. I do feel a warm sensation in the ligs right after doing this.

If it is a lig pop, are they okay to have or am I doing damage to myself?

Thanks

I’ve had to happen to me randomly off and on for years now. Happens when I push my morning wood down to take a piss or mid sex when I pull up to jackhammer.

Curious to know what that is too. I’ve never had any negative PIs because of it or following so I’d doubt it’s something serious (I hope).

Feels almost like cracking a knuckle or your back for me.

Anybody got any insight?

It’s just a ligament moving/flicking over a prominent bone or other firm tissue. It doesn’t do any damage, nor is it either positive or negative. I wouldn’t deliberately do it though, as you could bruise the tissue a little.

Firegoat, how about this one: about a month ago I was hanging and about 12-15 minutes into a set I felt a lig “pop.” I had not adjusted my body or moved at all, not even a slight movement. I was just reclining there hanging BTC. It felt REALLY weird but didn’t hurt. I have felt other dense connective tissues pop just the way you are describing due to movement so I really didn’t think much of it, but this happened out of nowhere, like my lig was a guitar string and someone plucked it.

Another one: sometimes when I hang I feel a weird electrical sensation shooting up and down my unit. Also doesn’t hurt but feels weird. I figured it was just the nerves being stretched and firing haphazardly, but I am not positive.

You may not have been moving, but if the lig was right on the edge of popping over it would only take a twitch of your abdominal muscles, a kegel, or the tiniest elongation of tissue that the lig was attached to anywhere along its length or something similar to cause the shift to happen - think trigger at its surprise-break point. That would be my guess anyway.

The weird electrical sensation is usually from nerves being stretched, but it can be caused by any stimulation of the nerves anywhere along their length if they are being compressed or irritated at one point along their length (I.e. by a hanger). For example if you have a nerve being impinged (compressed) at your elbow, stroking along the nerve above the elbow may cause weird electrical sensations in your fingers. Or if a nerve is trapped at your neck you may get pain down to your fingers.
I’m guessing the feeling you are referring to is a bit like a cross between tingling, a spider running up and down inside your shaft, and someone sliding a piece of silk along the skin :)

It isn’t like that feeling, it is exactly that feeling. That’s what I figured, and that makes sense about the lig sitting right on the verge. I suppose even a tiny bit of creep could change its orientation enough to cause the pop if that was the case.

Thanks firegoat!

:) I love a good creative description. Some that I have heard off patients over the years have been corkers! :)

Yeah, I’ll bet. People have a funny way of explaining things sometimes. But sometimes the funny explanations are the most accurate, like yours above.
