I know several people who only do something when there is scientific proof and they limit themselves by acting like this.

I can see your point when referring to these people. Science holds them back. But, with all due respect, that is their fault. If they want to be closed minded individuals, we should blame them, not science.

Think about science and how it has helped us save millions (billions, soon) of lives with medical treatments, medicine, and even just plain knowledge. We now know things that we once thought saved someones life doesn’t, and vice versa. Science paved the way for this to happen.

Science has taken us to the moon and back.

Exactly, I completely agree with you. My initial response was after the following:

Science holds him back.

I think that science is related with questioning, not blind faith on principals. There are countless examples where you can see some scientific theory that has been (badly? ) proven and after some years replaced or proven to be wrong. Questioning is the foundation of science. It has it’s origins at the point where people stopped believing that everything is god sent and questioned where what they see/live comes from.

So it is not really a matter of being closed minded individual when it comes to scientific issues, rather than being a closed minded in general.
