Just watched "Unhung Hero" - Rebound Effect

I just watched the “cock”umentary, Unhung hero.

There is a scene where the protagonist is meeting with sexpert in San Francisco. He mentions that he has started an enlargement method called jelqing.. I think we are all familiar with this practice. TP’s MO..

She says that her concern with this method is that if ligaments are stretched too much, there is a chance for a “rebound” effect. In a sense, your ligaments snap back like a rubber band and you run the risk of shortening your dick.

Obviously, this was petrifying to hear when I am currently 3 mos into the newbie routine. I heat and wear an extender most days. Would something like the rebound effect occur all of a sudden or only after serious trauma and stress applied to the penis? I guess this has always been my #1 concern with manual PE, what is too much and what is enough? There could be nothing more depressing then embarking on a dedicated E journey only to SHRINK your dick!

I have been here for 13 years and this is the first I have ever heard of the rebound effect. Don’t waste your time worrying about it.


The primary goal of PE should be to make your penis as healthy as possible in both form and function. If you do that, increased size will follow.

Once stretched, ligaments don’t rebound as if they have memory. If they did, then corrective surgery for overextended knees and elbows would be completely unnecessary. Even if the rebound idea was true, it would be overcome by a slow and easy routine that emphasizes safety and an overabundant use of heat.

The “unhung hero” would do well with a handful of lube, a heating pad and a year of carefully applied PE. Unfortunately, he didn’t stick with any of his “discoveries” long enough to see any results. I suppose he did make some money off of his video.

The only rebound effect I’ve ever seen is turtling, after you hurt yourself. This…is a common reaction to any trauma though. And turtling is temporary. After you’ve recovered from the injury you can continue.

This chat is heating up (for all the wrong reasons). Anyways, this whole idea around turtling, could you please elaborate? Will this be something noticed right after a session and the penis will come back into form minutes later or is turtling more of an hours or days situation?

From what I remember, they said that after someone has the surgery where they cut the ligament, if they don’t stretch things afterwards they run the risk of having the ligament heal shorter than before, making them shorter. Doesn’t apply to stretching, unless somehow you actually tore the ligament completely and it healed shorter afterwards (although if you did that, you’d probably have ended up in the ER).
