For a newbie what’s better, overhand jelqs, underhand jelqs, or c jelqs (squeezing the sides)? I’ve heard that c jelqs are very safe but it feels like blood wouldn’t be able to trap like that.

I stick exclusively to C Jelqs in 3 different directions. (Up/Straight out/Down)

This is mostly due to tendonitis in both my wrists from some very wrist intensive work I used to do.

Occasionally I use an OK grip, but for me I use the knuckle on the first finger of each of my hands to run along the underside of the shaft, as indicated in the video. It definitely pushes blood forward into the shaft and glans but I have to push into my pubic bone to get a full stroke from time to time.

I don’t think grip is directly correlated to one person gaining more or another, then again a vet can feel free to correct me.

Whatever works best for you and you’re most comfortable with, I think is the key.

Just gainin one step at a time.
