The newbie routine recommends a 5 minute warm-up before, every time.
Even with a low level routine I think this is a good principle to follow.
I would also say that 5 minutes should be the minimum.
When I was having physical therapy, to stretch out and re-align things, the physical therapist warmed-up the area for 15-20 minutes prior to doing any work, and she wasn’t trying to make anything bigger, just put it back into place.
I, like many here, am a believer in heat as a critical aspect of PE practice. I think continued use throughout a routine is the best way to go. Whether that be with a rice sock, heat pad, or IR lamp, you can never go wrong with heat - unless you apply too hot a temperature.
I’d say 100-110 degrees faranheit is about right - warm, but not hot.
I want to make clear, it’s not necessary to measure the temperature with great precision - a warm cloth should do it at a minimum. Some folks jelq in a hot shower and that seems to work okay.
But I wouldn’t skimp on the warm-up aspect. It’s up to you, of course, but there you have it.

After: I\'d like to show you something I\'m very proud of, but you guys in the front row will have to stand back.
