The only difference is time under tension and the amount of friction. 2) Looks like you have all the knowledge over pe’ing but what what do I know I’ve only been doing it for ~9 years. I generally try to stay at 60-70%, alot of lube.

Really? You’re getting that offended?
1) There are a lot of exercises where those are the only two differences. Even getting into clamping and hanging, a lot of them are a controlled extreme of a manual exercise you can do. Those differences matter a lot, especially to a newbie.
2) If Clubbin is seeking advice using the term ‘jelq’ to describe the exercise as described on the site, and you are advising him based on an alternate definition/understanding, then it hurts the accuracy of your advice.

But hey, I haven’t squeezed my penis until it bled, so I must know nothing about it ;)

Lighten up fellas! It’s just a simple discussion about PE. Try to steer clear of personal attacks and take some time, while your relaxing, to browse other parts of the site like the forum rules and guidelines.

Who said anything about clamping or hanging? What I gave in an earlier post was the routine I followed that led to an I jury as a caution to other guys. I even said that it was “EXTREME” because eventually every noob becomes advanced and with advanced routines comes the risk of injury and the reward of gains. Everybody eventually gets injured and whether serious or not it teaches you a lesson of mortality. If you’re so full of yourself you can’t make a convincing argument with no personal experiences you shouldn’t give advice to anyone.

I understand that you were giving your own routine, but it didn’t seem like sound advice to me because you seem to be describing Ulis. When you say jelqs should not be done while erect based on experience with a separate exercise, it just put a negative label on jelqing which aren’t responsible for your injury. To me it’s like warning people not to use slick tires on a motorcycle based on one of your previous accidents when there were other issues involved, like that it was raining and the roads were slick, not just the tires.

I don’t think we have to judge other people’s advice to guys. If you don’t like TheGreatDivider’s advice, no need to criticize him publicly on the forum. Good advice is praise in public and criticize in private.

The point of my post wasn’t to criticize Divider, it was to point out what I thought was a misconception that could interfere with how members would judge the exercise based on his post.

So another question related to jelq’ing.

Wet vs. Dry.

When in the shower, I do lubed jelq’s using conditioner or soap or whatever. I hold the “fat pad” down with one hand, then do a jelq with the other and stop just below the head. The whole motion takes about 2-3 seconds. I typically do an inverted V with my fingers, so I’m not squeezing the bottom of the shaft. I had read about not doing that on here, that it could cause some damage/loss of feeling. When I was younger, my very first foray into PE, I actually worked up a bit of a blister or something under the head and it scared the shit out of me.

I assume that my “wet” procedure is correct.

But what about dry jelq’ing? Is the preferred process to simply grip the shaft as normal (in my case, the “inverted V”), and squeeze towards the head without gliding the fingers over the skin, but rather “taking the skin with”? I’m just a bit confused about proper dry jelq practice.

Also, with “holding” are you guys jelq’ing to the middle of the head, then simply holding for a few seconds?

Should I be doing full-wrap jelq’s? Or are the inverted-V jelq’s better?

I’m, obviously, interested in gaining both length and girth. But girth is more important to me at this point. Should I stick to the 70-80% hard rule for more girth gains?

Ultimately I want to gain ~1” of girth, and ~1.5” NBP length overall.
