Is there such a thing as doing to many Kegels?

Lets say you have loads of spare time to just sit there and you could do them all day long. Would do this have any negative affects? I currently believe the more the better for kegels at least. Would that be correct?

I am reading a book called “The Testosterone Syndrome” by Dr. Eugene Shippen.

His advice is 20 to 30 ten to fifteen second kegels every day. He suggests more is overkill.

This has been working well for me — I seem to be getting more out of the longer contractions. You get pretty strong holding that contraction for 15 seconds!

I’ve always been lazy on the kegels. Keep forgetting them. Last night in bed I did 20x10sec kegels. This morning I had the wood of all times. And this after a hard cardio workout last night. I usually never get morning wood after 2 hours of mad floor hockey the night before. Kegel on!

I’ve found an easy way to remember to do my kegels. I do them during my routine. I do them while I am pumping. While in the pump, I do several intense sets. It also increases blood circulation while in the pump, and I definitely have noticed the positive effects of doing it this way. I even do a few more sets while I am clamping, as clamping is also a part of my normal routine also. I’ve been doing them like this for about 3 months now. I always used to struggle to remember to do my kegels later in the day, usually forgetting to even do them at all, probably 3/4 of the time.

As for doing too many kegels? I’ve heard it might be possible to do too many, I forget where I read that though. Everything in moderation, I don’t think it is good to over-do anything. My .02 cents anyway…

Yeah. I overdid them before and it messed up my orgasm so bad. My load went from shooting to just dribbling and the orgasms are the weakest in my whole life. I think like every other muscle, PC needs some rest too so don’t overdo it.

Yes but if you over kegel you muscles will be come so large it will be hard to walk. :boogie:

But on a serious note, I do my kegels while hanging. This isn’t for beginners, but man it can really do wonders. It has greatly increased my ejaculation amount and the distance it flies. on a good day I can hit the ceiling or the wall across the room.

Kegels use the regular muscles (not smooth muscle) so they need time for repair after a workout, just like after weightlifting. 40 hrs or whatever the optimum is (others may have more up-to-date info on rest hours).

Contraction under resistance - kegeling while hanging - should be better than just contraction, no?

I always forget to do them. When I did remember I always get harder erections. I woke up one morning and I thought I was going to burst. I’m gonna have to remember to do them more often. 15 is my starting limit! Thanks for reminding me about them, OohYeah! :)

I don’t think this is true.

I forget the type of muscle it is, but I do remember reading somewhere on here that it’s the same as abdominals, which can be worked daily and do not need recovery time.

I just want to jump in on this one. I was a personal trainer for years. I’m not a kegal expert, but in reference to abs not needing recover argument, thats just a misconception. The truth is, larger muscles need more recover time, smaller ones need less. For example, legs, back, pectorals are large muscles that need more time to recover and grow. Abs are much smaller and need much less time. So within 24 hours they are usually rested enough for another workout.
