That is indeed very far fetched and actually a mathematical impossibility.
Maybe “cheating” is the wrong word. It would only be cheating if you used it as your official “bragging rights” measurement. If you have a 7.5 inch penis that looses 0.5 inches due to a curve you don’t have an 8” penis. Period. The length of your penis is the length from your public bone to the tip of your glans when measured parallel to the floor.
Like I said before, I’d love to be able to say I have an 8” penis (and I would if I measured along the curve) but I am honest with myself. You’re only fooling yourself if you count inches that don’t add to length as part of your length.
Either way, a curve can be corrected by PE. Upwards curves are more desirable to women so it does not make sense to try to correct that curve but many have fixed more “unsightly” curves to the left or right that make the penis appear very unsymmetrical.
