Hey guys! :)

I know of the golden rule to never masturbate right before or after a PE session (at least 3 hours before and after), but what about edging? In order words, masturbating but stopping before you ejaculate? Is this okay?

Also, what if you don’t ejaculate but pre-cum comes out? Would that be as detrimental to the PE session as if you fully ejaculated?

I am not sure, as in my opinion getting an erection alone would count as further fatigue for the penis. I would apply the same rules of masturbation to edging when it comes to PE, but I admit there are no real bases for this, just my personal opinion.

Fully ejaculating won’t hurt it, why would pre-cum?

Westla90069, do you know for a fact that the opposite is true?

I know that we’ve had many members who regularly masturbated or had sex after a PE session and had gains. There was a survey done, but it seemed to have been answered mostly by those who felt masturbation was a problem. It wasn’t a very well controlled study so I find it’s results a bit suspect.

The author of the survey started his own PE web site. You’ll find lots of support for your position there.

If not, you’ll get both sides of the argument in that thread.

I reckon the issue is that after ejaculating, your interest in sex (and PE) wanes for a while. This especially becomes the case with older guys who have difficulty ejaculating more than 6 ot 7 times a week. If you can maintain your full PE regimen with regular ejaculation, then go for it. If you can’t, try edging instead.

With me, edging does not have a draining effect, there is no recovery period and I can PE 4 or 5 times a week no problems — more if I wished to. If I wank before a PE session, I can end up giving PE a miss all together; if afterwards, I am not as keen to PE next time and sometimes might give it a miss then as well, but depending on how often I’ve ejaculated recently and how intense the orgasm was each time. I find if I have a really great orgasm, my recovery period is shorter, even much shorter — sometimes I can go again almost straight away.

So, my experience is that it’s up to you, how great the previous orgasm was and your own recovery period. We’re all different and each situation is different ejaculation by ejaculation. Oh, and precum has absolutely NO effect if your zinc levels are OK. If they’re not, just pop another zinc tablet.

So is masturbating like a minute after jelqing not recommended?

I’m not sure why, but I’m gonna agree with westla, I think edging after a routine could be possibly a good thing, isn’t the idea to get blood in the penis and keep it there? Having an erection for a long time has always been beneficial imo, and if you want to be safe then whatever, don’t ejaculate! I say go ahead and do it.

Yes, absolutely, but within the confines of what I said above. Young virile teenagers can wank 2-5 times a day to no effect. With older guys, once a day can be too much.

Where do you get this from?

It might be true that some older guys might be challenged by the prospect of wanking (to ejaculation) 5 times within a short time frame; I don’t, however, think there’s any reason to believe it would be bad for them to do so. True, it might tire them out a bit, but… they could rest afterward.

And as far as edging goes, I don’t think there’s any real harm in edging as much as you want. I don’t know that there’s much benefit to compulsive edging either, but erections are generally a good thing.

I read somewhere on here that urologists think that, on a basic level, erections beget erections: the more you have, the more you’re likely to have.

That said, compulsive masturbation to ejaculation will certainly tire one out and eventually rest will be needed to get to full strength again - no matter how old you are.

Yes, generally speaking, it’s easier for older folk to hit the exhaustion point a little sooner than younger men - but staying in shape, eating right, getting enough rest, quitting smoking and generally keeping oneself as healthy as possible (and a regimen of some daily Kegels can’t hurt either :leftie: ) and older guys can do just fine.
