Where do I buy one for a good price

I bought mine from a pet store…both the bulb (250 Watt) and the ceramic lamp are the same ones used as heating lights for reptiles.

IHL & protective heating bowl < $20 @ Walmart.

I’m looking for one too but when I saw the price of some online I knew I could find it for cheaper. Anybody got any more ideas on where to get one and how to set it up. I found this site which gave me some info.

Pet store. Reptile aisle. Zoo Meds brand. Get a light bulb or ceramic emitter and the socket/reflector it plugs into. 150 watts is adequate about 8-12” away from your nether regions.

Thanks rootsnatty! Do you know if there is any difference between ones designed for heat therapy and ones for pets? That site I listed said to get a 250 watts red bulb. I’ve never gotten one because when I first looked up proves years ago they were ridiculously expensive but I see now there are many cheaper options.

I don’t think think there is much of a difference. One thing to note: the red heat lamp bulbs do not produce purely IR radiation. They are coated inside the bulb and filled with special gasses that shift the bulbs output significantly towards the IR side of the spectrum, but they still produce visible light as well. Ceramic IR emitters will produce purely IR heat. Emitters work slightly better, last way longer, and are more energy efficient, but the heat they put out feels different - like you are being heated from the inside out - this can make it slightly harder to gauge how far away to place the device.

I think 250 watt is overkill. You will need to place the light/emitter much further away which isn’t too big of a deal, but it will mean the heat will cover a huge area - probably from your knees to your nipples, depending on how you’re sitting. With my 150 watt bulb, it warms just my pubic region and a little extra from 8-12” away.
