How to know if you have ligament damage?

I’ve been having aching pain up on the right side of my groin and down under my balls. I went to the doctor and she said that the muscles under my balls was tender and just needed time. When she pushed in on my side she said that I must work out and that I’ll probably eventually get a hernia(I had several doctors tell me this). I took stopped PEing for about 2 months and I didn’t find that it did anything for the aching to go away.

I’m getting frustrated cause I want to PE but don’t know if this pain was from ligament damage or not(I’ve never had a moment when stretching or jelqing where I felt that I injured myself. I just felt really good tension when doing so. Maybe I stretched too hard). My problem is that this could be a mental issue too. I had a bad back for years and I’m usually fine until I think about it and then I feel pain in my back. So the doctor might not even be able to help.

So I wanted to know if there is anyway to know if it is a ligament problem? Can I still PE if I’m not feeling pain while doing it? How long does something like that take to heal? I’m so frustrated that I can’t stay consistent with PE. KI would hate to have to take months off. Thanks for the help.

Seems to me that the doctor would have been able to tell if it was ligament damage. If you were not satisfied with the doc’s explanation, go see a different doc. Make a list of questions that you want answers to and take it with you. Don’t leave until you have answers for your questions.

Normally if ligs are a little sore from overuse, they recover quickly with rest. The soreness is felt usually after a session; it comes on over a few hours as inflammation increases and goes away steadily over a few days.

If a lig is damaged traumatically from an excessive or sudden pull, you will feel it instantly, it will be very painful, and it will take several weeks to recover. Unless you have severely damaged the ligament, it will usually recover well though.

Continuing PE with either an overuse or traumatic lig injury would stop it healing the same way as continuously picking a scab off a wound.

What you are describing sounds more like a possible hernia, but any doctor should be able to diagnose that with fair accuracy. It could also possibly be a strain of a muscultotendinous junction or insertion, i.e. a groin strain. Does trying to do the splits hurt?

If PE is not causing discomfort or a worsening of symptoms, it is unlikely to be to blame, and it should be safe to continue. If symptoms get worse after a PE session, complete rest is indicated.

All injuries happen from "too much", or "too much, too soon" or "doing the exercise incorrectly".

“How long does something like that take to heal?”

If it is a ligament then it requires three to six weeks (maximum) to heal completely.

So does that mean staying away from sex too? That’s so hard for me to do.

The same goes for sex too.

I agree with firegoat in his first reply. You need to see another doctor. Your symptoms do not sound like a ligament injury to me. It sounds more like an inguinal hernia.

Many female doctors don’t like to do hernia checks, just as many male doctors are uncomfortable doing pelvic exams. This is not sexist, it’s simply reality. Consider going to a male doctor. You do not have to go to a urologist or a general surgeon at this time. You need to get someone who will make you turn your head and cough. Even if it isn’t a hernia, a thorough exam should help to ferret out these symptoms.

It’s been around too long. Get it checked again, by someone else.

So if it is a hernia would a good stretch(especially down or to the left)aggravate the injury?

IF it is a hernia, anything that puts traction on the area could cause pain or ache, especially if the area around the hernia is irritated of inflamed. Again I said if you have a hernia. Since I can’t feel with my finger in your groin while you cough over the computer, I can’t tell you whether you do or you don’t have a hernia. I think you should get it checked again.

>When she pushed in on my side she said that I must work out and that I’ll probably eventually get a hernia(I had several doctors tell me this).

Do these doctors also read palms?

A second opinion on the hernia thing can’t hurt, but hernias can be difficult or impossible to detect by feel. Something often ignored, which may or may not be at play here, is referred pain. I’ve felt pain some distance away from the actual problem in several situations.

So if it is ligament damage will it be safe to PE in the future(when it is completely healed) or will this reoccur? I’m really frustrated I just want to start PEing again.

Yes, if it is lig damage and you let it heal completely, just start slowly and build up intensity slowly over time. It should not re-occur.

My last post on the subject. So what exactly are the symptoms of ligament damage? Is it pain or ache? Is the pain/ache located on or very near the penis or can it be higher up on your groin? Are erections painful?

Go to the doctor as none of us are truly qualified to answer the question.

I see ligament, tendon and muscle problems all day long; it’s what I do. But trying to diagnose over the web is impossible. I agree with sunny; go and see a doctor. It really is the best option if you are worried, and the problem is not improving.
