How to keep up the erection during jelq?

I guess the question is pretty much the title… :P

When I jelq I try to begin at an 80%-90% erect state but I can only keep my penis at like 50%-60% while jelqing. When I try to get up again I have to do a fast 5-10 seconds masturbation and, if I don’t, it will fall off to the 50%.

Is this supposed to happen?
Any of you guys have any suggestions?

The basic jelq is to be done with an erection level between 60% & 80%.

You are starting too high.

Do them slowly (3 seconds from base to glans) and steadily. Kegeling will allow you to maintain the right level. If that fails then you can stimulate yourself to a slightly higher erection and let it subside until you are in the right zone..

Doing jelqs at 90% is too high. Tone it down a bit.

I assume that your are a Newbie and doing the Newbie Routine. Many think that jelqing is kin to masturbating, but it isn’t. Try to remember that Jelqing is a routine to force blood into the penis, or to help develop the blood flow into the corpus cavernosa, and thereby to help gain length and girth. That is completely different from masturbating, so try not to confuse the two.

As Mr. Happy says, keep the erection at a lower level, about 60%. You can go higher later, but not as a Newbie.

Many can’t get a lower erection, which is not helpful. Many others, like yourself, and me too, lose erections (it was especially a problem as a Newbie) and it has to be stimulated in order to regain the required 60% erection. Try not to get hooked on using porn to get or keep an erection. Use your imagination, which is far better and closer to real life (think of past experiences, or think of someone you would really like to get it on with), to regain an erection. Just don’t over do it, cool it, so you won’t get a full erection! I find if that happens, though, I just give it a good wanking, and after an orgasm, a 60%+ is easy to get. Just don’t worry about it. It is no big deal. But, remember, just don’t do it with a full erection.

When you have a chance, complete your PE Statistics and Routine. It’s :easy: , just click the “quick links” and then click the “PE Statistics.”

I have the same problem that panos have, but today it’s far better, I stimulate myself until 100% and jelq 25 times, then stimulate again, it’s clearly that you as a newbie must avoid high erections jelqing. Boo-Ya first try off jelqing in 60% e 80% them try out 40% 60%, if you have to experiment to see what suit yourself.

I can easily keep the erection at 50%-60% by JUST jelqing. It’s like the blood flow/pushing keeps this 50%-60% state.
I know that is far different from masturbation and I have already filled the PE statistics.

Thank you very much Panos and all the others, I will now do my jelqing relieved at my 50%-60% =)

If you are new to jelqing, just be patient and in a week or two you will start getting erect much more easily. It’s the other good thing about jelqing.

And this does what for you exactly?


Twenty five jelqs is not really enough to accomplish very much, and jelqing above an 80% erection level is asking for trouble, newbie or not. Opinions differ on this subject, and as long as your PI’s are positive you are probably not doing any damage, but 25 jelqs isn’t much. I can’t imagine you are doing much good either.


It’s your dick, you do what you want, but you’ll get better results if you do the exercises properly. That means a proper warm up and jelqing with an erection level of between 60% and 80%.

English not your first language? What is that supposed to mean? Are you relieved to know it’s okay to jelq at a lower erection level? Is that what you’re trying to say?


As I said above, it really is best to jelq at a 60% - 80% erection level - from most accounts that’s the sweet spot. If I were you I would keep it at a lower level at first (closer to 60%), as you are most likely going for length at this point and the lower levels are better for length. They are also safer. I’d reallly rather not read about you hurting yourself.

Erection Level


The level of erection is important. If you Jelq with too low an erection level or allow your erection to subside for too long before correction, the pressure during the progression of each stroke will vary greatly. The start of the stroke will be low pressure and the end of the stroke will be a much higher pressure. This will encourage more girth development toward the glans and eventually result in a baseball bat shape developing.


The minimum erection level you should allow is 40%-50%. In general, the greater the erection, the more effect on girth. Likewise, the lower the erection, the more effect on length. That said, some gain length easily and others only find girth increases. Jelqing with erections higher than 80% should be avoided initially.

I would go so far as to say Jelqing with erections higher than 80% should be avoided. There has been nothing to show that jelqing at levels higher than this is any more effective, and there is evidence around here to show that it can have a negative impact on erectile function. Word to the wise: don’t bother with it.


The newbie routine suggests 200 three second jelqs with a semi-erection. This should take about fifteen minutes, as you will have to work to keep the erection level consistent, and that will likely mean taking little breaks to simulate yourself to keep the erection at the proper level. The Kegels are EXTREMELY important, as is the warm-up and warm down. Don’t skimp or cut corners, the penis you save may be your own.


It’s a tried and true routine. Give it your best shot for three months and worry about improving on it after you have some experience.

Actually I don’t care that much with length, I’m concerned about girth. :)

No, it’s not my first language, I apologize for any grammar mistakes. :( Yes, Im relieved to know it’s okay to jelq at a lower erection level but, to be honest, since the beggining I thought this was going to be misunderstood. We can’t have an equal measurement way to check, for instance, if my 60% are the same as yours and so on. I THINK that I’m jelqing at 50%-60% and what can I say… 100% is rock hard and from there I take the other numbers…

As with anything, there are certain aspects where you’ll have to use your judgment. Obviously there is no precise way to measure erection levels. So the rough guidelines of 60% (or what-have-you) are what we use. If you have slightly more than a halfway erection you’re good to go. If it falls off from this (which is likely after a few minutes of concentrated jelqing) you’ll need to rev yourself up a bit. That’s all.

Definitely stay away from jelqing fully erect or close to it; just let it subside a bit and then resume. Obviously there are no rules - it’s your dick - but that is my strong advice to you.

You currently have a girth that is quite large. What makes you want more? Just curious.

Your English is superior to many native speakers. I only guessed because those two instances of usage were odd. Do your best. From time to time I correct folks in red.
