How essential is jelqing

Have now done the newbie routine 3 times and each times failed (epically.) to jelq. First of all I’m very small, around 4.5” in length. My girth is fine and I just want the extra length.

Problem 1 is that because of my size holding it at the base means there’s not much there to jelq with, I’m afraid of the baseball bat effect and it’s just awkward anyway.

Problem 2 is that I keep losing my erection when I jelq and haven’t had any luck (I was impotent from psychological stress for a year and get hung up when I have to ‘try’ to get it up).

I just want to ask, given that I’m only looking for length increases, can jelqing be replaced with something else in my routine?

Get thru the newbie routine. Plan on gaining length fastest by hanging and/or ads/stretcher.

If this stalls then switch to pump and clamp.

Look up the TGC Theory.

I don’t know if it can be replaced as it is the main ingredient to girth increase, but if length is all you are looking for you need to continue to stretch and I would also implement some fowfers into your routine. Don’t be too overzealous though, and continue on with the newbie routine. Good luck!

As others have said, make sure you continue the newbie routine for it’s full course if you REALLY feel you’ll need to substitute it.

Jelqing and stretching are the most fundamental parts of any PE routine. I would argue that they should be done no matter what. Obviously when your time is focused on hanging or clamping then they will take up a smaller portion of your routine. However they are still just as important.

With jelqing your doing a number of things; stretching the penis, expanding the penis, increasing/improving blood flow and conditioning the penis.
PE exercises can be very tough on the penis and you need to take it in steps before you move on, if you really feel you have to.

With your size, you should still be able to jelq. Perhaps push into your fat pad if you need more of a grip.
Watch porn to help maintain the [partial] erection. Remember you don’t want to be 100% hard, most keep it at around 50-80% erect.

Another point, many get their initial “shock” gains from the newbie routine, or at least the exercises that it comprises of done to a different schedule.

Stay persistent and you will reap the rewards.

Absolutely. Give it time, you’ll see. Perfect practice makes perfect. Even the pumper sites say that jelqing is essential to creating permanent gains. Once you get it down you can do it anywhere, wet or dry.

I started at about your size and tried jelqing but also didn’t like it. I felt that my time would have been better spent just stretching and that’s exactly what I did. I hit DLD’s newbie routine, minus the jelqing, twice a day if I could, with no days off and put on my first solid half inch. So, I disagree with most people’s insistence that ‘everyone must jelq’. I do it occasionally but it isn’t a regular part of my routine. My thoughts are along the line with Bib’s. That jelqing is more for penile health and to help express the gains that you have already made, than for actual gains.

On a side note, start taking notice of reported injuries from PE and you may find as I did that most are the result of jelqing. I’m starting to believe that jelqing should be considered a more advanced exercise.

There’s nothing absolute about the newbie routine. It’s just what has worked for a lot of people. If you only want to do stretching, that’s fine. I for one would really like to know how an all-stretching routine works for you.

I guess if penile health is not on your list for items to improve, then I believe stretching only is the way to go. If you don’t over do it and you gain length without jelqing or loss of EQ, then go for it!

Just doing the routine three times is a bit early to draw conclusions. If you start (say) running you will not make much in the way of fast gains after a week or so. It will take longer.

Be patient with yourself, . And remember that you are doing things your body isn’t used to and you are possibly a little nervous. Even suspicious of harming yourself.

This is quite natural so take it fairly easy for the first month . Then you can do an appraisal of yourself, and askfurther question,

First off, 4.5” is small, but not “very small.” You’re not that far below average and with a little work I bet you’ll hit 5” pretty easy.

Second, if you don’t like jelqing, try not doing it for a month or so and see how you gain. Some have been successful with pure stretching routines. I would double down on kegels, though. Most newbie gains have a lot to do with improved EQ. I know mine have been in this first month. More blood into the penis = better erection = bigger erection.

Third, don’t worry about getting it up. I used to have the same problem as you and sometimes still do. Just relax and don’t worry if you get hard or not. Most people on here believe that if you jelq in a very low state of erection it helps gain length. A 10% erection where your penis is little more than flaccid might be good for this. You can also try porn or just using your imagination like when you masturbate. There’s no pressure at all here. You’re just beating off ;)
