Is it necessary to apply heat after a routine? I understand the principal, heat to relax tissues, but is it necessary?

I don’t think so. They are already warmed up prior to starting, then heated up more by friction and increased circulation. If anything, if you have given it a hard workout, ice would be more appropriate to reduce inflammation. But, again my preference is to leave it alone or take a nice shower and get something else done.

It is not necessary to do anything after your routine. Find what works and feels best for you. I personally like to relax for a few after I am done and will apply heat with a heating pad. For me that helps relieve any soreness and keeps my flaccid larger for a longer time. If you feel the heat helps you use it.
