An extender is a little easier to use than a hanger, however, it offers less possibility for continuing gains since it is limited in its range of motion.
Hanging is much more difficult to master, but offers many more possibilities in terms of adjustment of angle and weight. Combining traction wrapping or ADS with hanging seems to get the best results, though, which is why Dino suggests you do both, (as he does).
Both devices can be made with less than $20 of parts found at your local “big box” hardware store.
