General flexibility vs gaining

General flexibility vs gaining

It crossed my mind that there might be some correlation between the natural level of a guys flexibility (ie, how easily can you touch your toes) and the rate at which he gained.

I am a very hard gainer and also have very tight ligs and muscles.. Generally highly inflexible.

Anyone else care to comment?

Well, although some are more flexible than others, have you truly tried to stretch your muscles out? I don’t mean touching your toes for 10 seconds, bobbing up and down, and then calling it quits. When I wanted to stretch my hamstrings out, I would use a sturdy desk, put one leg up, lean into it 30 seconds x 4 for each leg per night. In abut two weeks I was way more flexible. If you have already tried something like this and been consistent, then you may need to apply heat first.

Oh yea, I used to play a lot of sports to a pretty high level. Stretching was a daily thing. All physios and doctors have always said I had really tight ligaments and muscles.

But in any case, something like 70% of flexibility is natural. Someone like me would have to work unbelievably hard to become as flexible as many naturally flexible people.

For example, my brother can do the splits and has always been able to, regardless of if he’s been stretching recently. He has loose ligaments and joints. I have the opposite.

Edit: My point was that there my be a correlation between being naturally flexible (regardless of whether or not you train it) and gain rate.
