Frustration...

I’m approaching one year since I started PE and, while I’ve made some real progress (stats in my signature), progress during the last 6 months has been SLOW and I expected to be further along at this point. I’m still growing — I actually had a record BPEL measurement today of 6.75” — and I’m still dedicated, but I’m having a hard time maintaining patience. So, how to you all deal with the frustration of plateaus and periods of slow growth, and how do you resist the temptation to over-escalate the intensity of your routine?

Starting (May 2010): BPEL:6" EG: 4 7/8". Current (April 2011): BPEL: 6 3/4" EG: 5 1/4".

Short Term Goal: BPEL: 7" EG: 5.25" Long Term Goal: When my wife makes me stop or 8"x6" (whichever comes first)

Fear of an injury for me.

Yeah man, injury for me as well. I’ve been PE’ing on and off for a few months but just started a consistent routine last week. I saw some gains already that week and got excited and pushed myself - been recovering from minor nerve damage since then. From here on out I do whatever I can to avoid any sort of injury, because at the time I thought I was screwed, my EQ was for shit. (BTW I found your “best jelqing lube ever” and made a batch of my own, but with cocoa butter and olive oil. Love the stuff)

Your gains are pretty good bro, have you changed up your routine lately?

Thanks for the thoughts and, I’m with both of you, the fear of injury is always there stopping me from doing stupid things. As for my routine, I started off with the newbie routine and did some version of that for the first few months. Then I switched primarily to hanging and jelqing around the end of the summer. I took a six-week decon break during December and early January and have since been doing a girth routine using a combination of jelqing, pumping and clamping since then. Gold, glad you like the live too — I’ve been thinking of trying it with cocoa butter — I’ll have to mix up a batch.

I have become used to PE, so I have no problem with doing it. It’s like doing homework. If you want good results you have to do it. Simple as that.

15/09/2010 Start (NBPEL:18cm or 7.1 in / EG:15.5cm or 6.1in)

14/4/2011 (NBPEL:20cm - 7.9 in / EG:16.5cm - 6.5 in)

GOAL:NBPEL:22cm - 8.7 in/ EG:16.5cm - 6.5 in

As long as there is growth then I don’t get frustrated, but if I’m stuck I either change what I’m doing, or take some time off.

Build intensity really slowly. Too much too soon and you can reach the point where you aren’t making any gains, but you cannot safely increase the intensity. At least that’s how it works for me. Better to take things slow than too fast.

Sometimes backing off a bit is all it takes to get back on track.

Take your time, pick a simple routine you can stick to, and be consistent in your efforts. Patience is the key.
