No I never jelq in any serious way, ie to try to producd gains.

I do some light manual work like massaging, light squeezes, light to medium length stretches. But these are all supplementary exercises to keep my unit longer and loosened up between pumping. For the actual work that produces gains I just use pumping, with carefully monitored and controlled force.

This forum seems to have a strong bias to get beginners using manual exercises like jelqing. I think it’s for safety, so people don’t jump in and use too much force with equipment. I don’t really agree with that and personally I think everyone (beginners and experts) should be using controlled (measured) force, and be very careful with it.
An analogy would be lifting weights with careful control and increase of the weight. Not telling a beginner to “jump around while holding a heavy rock everyday, then after a few months you’ll learn your muscles and finally be ready to use gym equipment”… ;)
