I think most of us newbies worry a lot about how long it will take to see our first gain so I’ll share this. For me, a consistent measurement method is critical. It took me about 10 days to come up with a system that I was sure was repeatable. I have a layout square in my shop that is an aluminum triangle with a bar across the bottom. I found that the bar across the bottom makes this very comfortable for doing BP measurements. I also found after using it for a few days that my measurements settled down and there was a mark that no matter how hard I pressed or how hard I stretched (BPFSL), I couldn’t get to that mark. That’s when I knew I had my measurement system worked out and that unattainable mark (1/8”) became my goal.
I just finished day 32 of my exercises. A few days ago (3 or 4) I started to imagine that I was hitting my 1/8” mark. For the first time, this morning, I’m not imagining it. I’ve definitely reached the mark. So, at least for one guy, 32 days to get my first 1/8 in. Yeah!
